IN-GAME Events

(notmyname) #1

Why are in-game events so lacking?

Ultimately, events are created to keep players playing and be satisfied without boredom to death. Considering the limited amount of activities that you can do in Dirty Bomb such as it only having five maps that you can enjoy, I wouldn’t be surprised if a new player was to start playing for a week or so and gradually begin to get completely fried of the game and stop playing.

The last in-game event was more than a month ago. I mean, it can’t be that hard to have just ONE event every couple of weeks or so whether it be a double credits weekend or possibility a percentage of an XP boost. Just something along the lines of giving players a motivation boost to play.

I’ve been surprised at the amount of players online lately on the Australian servers. Especially considering that the school holidays here have just began and is to last for a couple of weeks, I was expecting a ton more of players online during the past few days.

Don’t fool yourself thinking that this thread was created purely to complain. I’m fine with having no events but it’s hard enough trying to locate a single 7v7 or 8v8 room. It’s only a helping suggestion for more players to play.

Here’s an example of what you log onto (ignore the US East… was viewing their servers):

Come on Splash Damage, you can do something!

What do you mean by ingame events? Things like get X amount of total points in a week and get a free credit booster or cases?

(Jostabeere) #3

He means “Double X weekends”

@Synerg1e Seriously, if the game itself doesn’t keep you playing, and you need Double EXP or Double Credits, just quit the game.

People won’t leave because they don’t get free stuff every weekend.

I never said ‘‘Double X weekends’’. I clearly stated ‘‘a percentage of an XP boost’’ which is ONLY a minor suggestion whilst being an example in itself. I also never stated that the game doesn’t keep my playing - '‘I’m fine with having no events but it’s hard enough trying to locate a single 7v7 or 8v8 room.’

Don’t bring up ‘‘people won’t leave because they don’t get free stuff every weekend.’’ I did say every ‘‘couple of weeks for at least ONE event’’ which is appropriate and would be highly appreciated by a majority of players. Go ahead and take a look at other FPS shooter games. They have continuous events throughout each month to keep their player base active. This one has absolutely zero and is starting to lose player due to the lack of developments and so on.

I suggest you next time to actually read the thread before commenting without knowledge.

Thanks!

Could you give examples of “ingame” events then?

(Jostabeere) #6

Why do you make this topic if it clearly doesn’t affect you? Charity?

It’s like saying: “I have cobalts, but other people don’t and they will leave the game if they don’t get cobalts. I don’t want cobalts, the other players want, but give me cobalts.”

I brought the ‘‘people won’t leave because they don’t get free stuff every weekend.’’ up because you clearly stated there are not enough events and right after you wrote: “playerbase is getting down”.
Again. If those two things are completely unrelated, why do you bring them up in 1 post right after each other?

The fact is, there are not enough events because there are no events.

Plain and simple -

AT LEAST 1 EVENT PER MONTH = KEEPS EXISTING PLAYERS HAPPY WITH SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO, CAN INCREASE PLAYER BASE DURING THE WEEKS AND BRING BACK PLAYERS WHO HAVE STOPPED PLAYING BACK.

NO EVENT = STATIC, GIVES NO MOTIVATIONAL BOOST TO PLAY AND GRADUALLY PLAYERS BEGIN TO LEAVE.

Tell me a SUCCESSFUL game that does not have any events for its players to enjoy. Go ahead and check out a few Nexon games (e.g. MS, CA) and you’ll see a variety of events that they put on.

Events can be considered such as promotional sales, inbox gifts, double coins during major public holidays, etc.

Hopefully you understand my current proposal.

Succesfull games with no events, hmmm I’m pretty sure cod only does double xp events every few months.

(sirjj) #9

I agree with OP, more events would be great. One example is the top 100, 50, 10 people get a certain prize at the end of a certain amount of time. Or something like that. And no I don’t need events to play the game it is just something fun to work toward.

It would be nice to play with SD & Nexon.

That’ll be an A W E S O M E

IN GAME EVENT

I already spend way too much time playing this game, especially with the “daily” missions (which are actually renewed 4 times a day). I really don’t need events to make me want to play even more. I already own all the mercs (paid with only credits) and yet I still feel like I still need to do a bunch of daily missions for more credits.

While events can be interesting, XP/Credit boost ones are probably the most annoying to me as it basically tries to dictate WHEN I should play. You might have played a bunch last week but man, you should totally come play this week cause… umm… CREDITS!! WOO!

I’m more in favor of beta test events, like when they give us a sneak peak at a new map, or let us try out Execution game mode. Those to me are fun and don’t feel like a cheap way to suck people in.

Now, I’m not saying having extra credit events wouldn’t help keep new players sticking around a bit longer, but I don’t think it would be that big a deal in the long run. Also, if you have Credit/XP on a regular basis, they are no longer special and become avoidable because you know the next one is right around the corner.

(Fleshpound) #12

I can only think about those Greenlight multiplayer games.

(sirjj) #13

Bottom line they do need more events different variety’s of them to keep people coming back for more. The one event that would do that would be a leader board event and a prize at the end of the event depending on what rank you get at the end of it like what I mentioned in my last post.

That would be great. Some people may disagree but it’s just my opinion.

(watsyurdeal) #14

It’s in the afternoon and you’re complaing that nobody is playing…it’s almost as if people have jobs or college.

(Backuplight) #15

As much as I like events, I don’t know that they make the game “more fun” - the game is same. This falls back to the same argument we have in so many posts these days: you shouldn’t need an incentive to play beyond just enjoying yourself. The game has kept me playing so much because I love the gameplay, the style, the pace - I guess some people look for different things in their games.

(watsyurdeal) #16

Agreed

If you need a reason to keep playing besides the game just simply being fun…consider why you play.

And I will admit I am sometimes just not up to playing, and even then if I decide fuck it, I’ll play, I end up having just as a good of a time anyhow.

So it really just comes down to whether you enjoy the game or not. If you like your games to be a grind Destiny might be coming to PC soon…

Admittedly it’s been a while since we’ve had an event. For those who don’t know, in the past we’ve had:

  1. Free Elite Case Event
  2. Dome Playtest
  3. Execution Mode Playtest
  4. Mega Merc Rotation
  5. Double Credits
  6. Double Credits + XP

I think that covers it… the point is we are going to start doing these and more again in the near future.

I never got my free elite case :frowning:

(GottaBeGreg) #19

Haha, currently the only reason Im playing daily is because the daily credit boosts are a thing.=) That and the 3 hour mission rotations. Finish them off in the first hour and then spend the next 2 procrastinating doing study, then use the missions resetting as an excuse to continue playing. =)
