Improving the Game Experience!

Dear Dirty Bomb players,

With the launch of the Open Beta we have had overwhelming interest and have reached server capacity a couple of times which has caused issues with players being disconnected or failing to connect to game.

We are working hard to bring more hardware online so we can support more concurrent players. We hope to have these solutions in place ASAP.

I don’t want to say I told you so, but… I’m going to. :smiley: You guys are doing amazingly compared to many game beta/full releases I have been through.

But I am very very happy to see more servers coming online. I know you had 719 up and most of those weren’t there before the 2nd. Glad to see you tackling the problem early unlike many games that try to ignore it for as long as possible!

That’s why, we should host game servers and you -> only master server. It’s an oldschool standard - community is helping devs, devs are helping community.

Wow a Multiplayer Game which can’t even handle 9k Players? are you new to the Game Developing?

It’s good to know that you react that fast, however, I will never understand why game developers consistently underestimate the number of concurrent players, which is why basically every major game release is broken these days.

Last I checked Dirty Bomb only had ~ 10k concurrent people online today (for comparison: Dota 2 has ~900k, CS:GO ~600k). So why didn’t you at least get servers to support less than a 10th of CS:GO population, so like space for 50k concurrent users? Would have been a safe bet and left you room to grow in the future.

Although I agree that for us players it’s nice to have enough servers and I myself asked for more a couple of times on these forums, I understand why developpers always are under the required amount.

I’m fairly sure that it all breaks down to a cost problematic and how to keep them low while satisfying everyone. Unfortunately, as predicting the exact amount of players is impossible, developpers can either overestimate or underestimate the amount of servers needed. And when overestimating, unecessary costs arise. Therefore, they rather keep it under the required number and add some more if needed after the fact…

It’s about on par with any popular open beta launch. Going into an open beta expecting it to work 100% of the time with no issues is sort of an odd thing to think considering it’s a beta.

There was an unplanned maintenance, but apart from that, no real problems here. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more maps and game modes.

@MissMurder Make sure the dev tasked with getting quickjoin to work didn’t make the ping requirement =100 instead of <100. The only servers I ever get from quickjoin are with exactly 100 ping.

Hi there!
I would like to ask for some detail about the login-malfunctioning, because neither my friend (Zynoa) and me (BloodySocks) cant login the game. Not even into the main menu.

This problem is alive since the latest update.

Servers may not be up yet – the maintenance was for potentially a three-hour period, and it should be done now, but they may have had a couple things left to take care of before everything is back up.

My quickfind worked after using it twice lol
