IMPROVEMENTS - take a look!

Hey Splash Damage tech support, i’m going to start with a quick bit about co-op;

I can’t join via invite (steam) ‘server not responding’, campaign missions can be joined via invite but only if the server isn’t full. (obviously) And only when at the ‘launch match via invite’ screen is up. all the same complaints as most people but nothing graphics related, nothing charactor related. and i run the game fine, the only problems for me are in the matchmaking system (the bethesda website is shockingly bad at helping with this, their FAQ section for windows vista has one question in it. And the answer to that question doesn’t have anythign to do with the question.) which you don’t have… so my first idea is that you create one (a few examples are given below)

ALL modes would work better with a group lobby where you can invite people to the lobby and then launch the game from there, more like Left 4 dead. in fact a lot could be learned from that game, i suggest that you take a look at how the multiplayer lobby system was done and try something similar. It wold be a massive improvement over the current system. It would mean that you didn’t have to invite people to your game whilst being IN the actual match. i hope you can see how this would be helpful. Brink Is the only multiplayer PC game i own where no lobby system is implemented.

‘launch match on invite’ i have only been able to get to this screen by accepting a steam invite whilst being on the campaign ‘start mission’ screen, and even then it only happens a few times a day! i suggest that you make this an option on the main menu as it will always be useful.

Play with friends - If an option like this was available, if I was creating this, it would mean that ANY match or lobby created would only be visible, and therefore, joinable by friends. A friends only lobby that is online could play versus with other people (on your team if desired, an option maybe?) very similar to the HALO matchmaking system on xbox 360, or rather more like being in a party and joining a match.

I tell you what the fact that you read and may even take on board some of my thoughts is at least a sign that some-one is trying. Please get back to me ASAP as i would hate to not be able to play a game ‘that seemslessly manages to combine singleplayer, co-op, and multiplayer’ becasue it can’t do the one thing (combine singleplayer, co-op and multiplayer) that we are told it can do ‘seemlessly’.

Edit: OMG the AI that are on your team are woeful, if the enemy ai is harder surely your teams Ai will be harder, meaning better, not meaning harder to work with. i mean seriously a medic that tries to run through the ENTIRE opposing team is just not acceptable. heres the situation that has happened about 40000000000 times now; operative part of Be More Objective, i will be shooting from the left hand side of the map accross to the right, when i go down the Ai medic will try to run up the middle of the mape and curve around the corner. So basically he has to run allthe way through the enemy tem. to make matters worse you aren’t even close to being the top priority for them. WTF is up with that? surely the whole point of a medic is to keep teamates alive, yet the seem more interested in going off and dieing without helping at all. Even when they have accepted the mission to come and revive you they still just wander around. Also it seems that your teams AI generaly has no idea what it’s doing, i mean really how can you expect me to believe that effort was put into the AI when the time comes to rely on the AI for help they dissapoint massively. they don’t seem to realize that in single player, the ONLY play charactor in the game is the most important thing. I saw one meddic AI give another meddic AI addrenalin whilst i was trying my hardest to hack that objective. I, of course, died instantly and NEITHER of the AI meddics helped me up. Both were within 5M of me!

Hmm, I haven’t had any problems playing with my friends through invites, although this seems to be a little iffy every now and then. This, however, is not something I’ve only experienced with Brink. The “server not responding” thing has happened every now and then with a lot of multiplayer games I have on Steam. However, 9 out of 10 times we have no problems joining eachother’s games.

There is however one thing. I heard from someone that in the console versions you can make firesquads. It would be nice if someone could confirm that. If it’s true, it’s kind of weird that this option isn’t available in the PC version.

it may be, theres a fireteam option in chat but idk how to create one. The invite thing ONLY happens with Brink, on steam, to me and my friends.
@Dryroastedlemon: how do you join your friends each other’s games in brink, on steam? details plz.

I have a lot of Timeout problems when trying to join servers. I don’t know why it does that but it can be pretty annoying at times when 8 ou of 10 servers I try to join don’t respond.

As far as lobby is concerned, I agree with parts of the original post. Joining games through the server browser is good and it should stay available, and we NEED dedicated servers. It’s great that Brink uses dedicated servers.

However, when you want to play with friends, it’s not always simple as servers are usually either almost full or empty. When I tried playing with a friend, it wasn’t that easy finding a server to play together, and we were only 2. For groups of 4 or 5 friends, it’s probably really hard to go on a server to play together.

So I think what Splash Damage could do is implement an optionnal lobby system as mentionned above + a party system, allowing you to invite friends to join your party, then send the entire party in one team on a server.
As said above, in short, implementing a system similar to Left 4 Dead 2, on top of the existing would be great. I don’t think it’s a priority on PC, I don’t think it is really urgent, but at least making an additionnal system to allow friends and teams to join and go together on a server would be nice.

i had the same problems to auto join a full server… even if a slot were free, he didnt connect…

but i dissagree the question…
thats not anywhere near a big problem… i have Crysis 2 running in High Details nearly Perfect but Brink ****ed up at 5-50 fps… for me it tells me, beteshda havent done ANY!!! testing… a totaly blind person would see that the game is unplayable with most of the ATI cards… 2-3 ati cards testet and everybody must have seen that it is running like ****… like **** **** ****…

EVEN BlackOps was running smoother… and i have the fear… that i get the same ****ing around… 3 weeks after release blackops did run better, but also far away from beeing run smooth and perfect for that what is visible and how it should be.
Publisher seems to just **** off testing PC Versions… Same as the Crysis 2 Serverbrowser… everybody that would have been played 1 time counter strike oder known some Serverbrowser like HLSW, ASE or Xfire would see that its a joke to release something like that.

But i dont want to diss splash damage… i like Brink, the 30 minutes that i have played it but the technical aspekt is partial ****.
