Importing tags and *.tag files

Unfortunately you’re right. I’ll still try to find a way to import/export but I’m getting tired of not finding anything worth my while so I might end up learning it.

Sounds like going across the street by digging a tunnel.

We have different tools for different tasks. Radiant is very good at making maps. Max and Maya are very good at making models.

It’s that simple.

…but I’m getting tired of not finding anything worth my while so I might end up learning it.

Where’s a smiley face for throwing your hands up in the air?

Those hands are busy switching channel and watching the Stanley Cup Final… :stuck_out_tongue:

I might add that’s it very inconvinient for a mapper to have to learn an enormously complex application like Max for simple things like an ugly model as mine is. I do understand your point and I’d dare say that up until not too long ago, it was 100% true. I believe with all the advances we’ve had, mostly due to ydnar’s q3map2, modeling low poly is easier done in radiant. Given the fact that we easily can export as a prefab, convert it to .ase, which is almost ready to be converted as an md3 and used with all the possibilities that offers.

I’m not saying Max would now be irrelevant to games… But I think the way I’m proposing would be a lot faster for those not wanting to spend 6 months learning a 3D modeling program.

Doesn’t that make sense? I think it does…

Yeah unfortunately Flames lost :’(

While I’m posting… It’s kinda back to square one… So, what I decided to do was to use NPherno, export the ase in md3, open Max 6, collapse everything, texture, reexporte in md3… Took me 2 hrs to figure out how to apply texture AND they didn’t show in the test map… sigh I used Pop 'N Fresh exporter btw. There’s this other exporter that I found but I had to contact the author because the plugin wouldn’t load. sigh

Any suggestion is appreciated…

Lol, This is almost like a timemachine: I started this topic under my old username ‘‘tubbie’’ . Let me asure you that all the problems I had regarding tag files and custom models are now solved

I made a php script a while ago, which could create a set of .md3 and .tag files containing tags. You just define the x,y,z coordinates and tag names and it generates the files.
