Imagine you get a duplicate gold card...

What a scary thought.

These things are RIDICULOUSLY hard to get right now. And now imagine you spend tons of cash and/or playtime on crates and finally drop another gold card… and then it’s completely useless. You can’t even use it for trading up.

So unless there is a provision in place that you can never get a duplicate gold card, I’d say this system is pretty awful. Please let us know soon if you have more plans for the loadout system, like opening it up to the Steam market. Because right now, I find it discouraging on multiple levels.

In fact, it’s about the only discouraging thing about the game so far, which otherwise has been surprisingly awesome. I don’t completely dislike the loadout system, I just find that the way they can be attained right now feels more punishing than rewarding. I did spend the 50k or so credits I had on crates (since that’s all there is right now to spend it on), and the experience was overwhelmingly negative because the number of times it would just barely pass (or not reach) a decent card was a LOT higher than the number of times I actually got a decent card from it. It feels like it’s tweaked to tease, but it’s too blunt to not make it an overall frustrating experience.

It’s so bad that now I’d rather keep all my credits for trade ups rather than take my chances with a crate, whether I have duplicate cards or not. I hope that’s not how you meant it to be?

About the Gold Cards in general, I opened one up that has a gun I do not like and will never use, nor can i do anything with it.

I would like to throw this as a suggestion out there :

2 Gold cards can be converted into another random gold card for the class of your choice. (think this should be a free convert also as you are not upgrading quality of cards)

As for the dupe thing, The chances of getting a card with all 3 of the same augments and weapons are probly low, but yeah that would def suck

I like your suggestion. Although losing one gold card would still be an incredible bummer, considering their rarity. Maybe trade one card + X credits for a random new card of the same rarity? This would be a like a paid re-roll.

And damn it, I just realised why player trading will probably never happen. Due to the way rewards are given out for new players, it would make multi-accounting way too advantageous. The game would have to be designed around player trading from the start, and it’s clearly not. Most F2P games aren’t, Valve games really are an exception in that regard.

All the more reason why we need more options for loadouts IMO, ideally based on credits or even actual money. E.g. for competitive play it’s almost imperative that it’s possible to get specific cards, even if it costs a bit more. I also like the Hearthstone system where you can turn every card to dust, and then use dust to buy specific cards.

This makes me wonder, has somebody started assembling a list of all available cards yet? I don’t think there are all that many, because even on the lead-level I have been getting mostly duplicates. My guess is that there are only two or three unique lead cards for each character, but I haven’t paid all that much attention to it.
