images in maps?

(kgbdino) #1

how do i add my personal images (images stored on my computer) in to GTKRadiant so i can use them on a map?

(DWM|Commando) #2

put them in etmain/textures/“name of map file”

put them in the file “name of your map”

the images must****** be in multiples of 64 pixels… ie 64 X 64, 64 X 128, 128X512 so on

thanks man
you really helped me

power of 2 does the job… as long as it stays below/equal 1024 (otherwise you might run into problems with old gfx cards)

For the mere mortals among you, that means each side must be one of:
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, or 1024 pixels
Beyond that are 2048, and 4096, but I doubt you’d want to go that far up for ET.

ummm, 1?

(CooperHawkes) #7

jepp… 1 is also valid (2^0)… afaik gfx card developpers think about dropping support of 1D textures in favour of 2D textures of dimension 1 x 2^n to save on some transistors
these textures can be pretty handy for some fadeout effects… however, i usually prefer 32 x 2^n for fadeouts to add some spatial noise (e.g. for spot light cones)

EDIT: @Lion: yeah, same time

for those of you who want to know why a power of two is needed:

(LION) #8

jep a pic at 1x1
small but power of 2

@ CooperHawkes
lol posted same time as you did…:stuck_out_tongue:

(Detoeni) #9

 that may well be true, but unless your monitors 4 times the size of mine, you’ll never be able to select it in radiant.

(No1_sonuk) #10

That doesn’t make it any less valid.
