I'm starting to leave games......oh dear

Don’t know about you guys but recently I have been quitting servers a lot, even in the middle of games. I’m not rage quitting…well maybe on occasion :wink: I certainly let my feelings known about sniper noobs.

However I am starting to run into several issues in game which are just beginning to bore/annoy me.

  1. Sniper Noobs
    I am just getting fed up of sniper noobs, they don’t understand the concept of the game, they hide behind walls and on balconies miles away from where they are supposed to be and they just frikkin annoy me. Especially since they pick classes like medic or engineer to sniper with!! Idiots.

  2. Imbalance in Teams
    This is beginning to grate as well, I am either joining a server on the side of a bunch of sniper noobs with maybe one or two other decent players trying to work together but just getting totally let down by idiots and therefore getting slammed. Or I am on the opposite team and the game is just boring because we just keep hammering the opposition. I must have quit about 6 different servers before finally finding a group of decent players on both teams today.

  3. Imbalance in numbers
    Again, this is irritating. In ETQW you could only realistically get 1 more player extra over one side at a time and this made sure to a certain degree that you wouldn’t be slammed.

In Brink you can be 8v1 and in fact I have been on a number of occasions! Why the hell any dev thought this would be an improvement in game play is beyond me.

I played all weekend in random almost entirely by myself. Lots of noob (new players) by my estimation or if they aren’t then they are learning or just not very good. Encountered Sniper Noobs on CC on the portion after the crane is fixed. They stay near the command post spawn and snipe from there across the map shooting essentially what amounts to peas at the other team for a solid 10+ minutes straight. I still had fun freelancing as an Operative. I finished with Best Overall. Then there are the campers who find some room or spot that most ignore and they set up mines and turrets and just wait as if anyone will bother with them at all. Lol. Imbalanced teams just happens regardless, unless you find a group of friends to play with. I had to quit early one night after we went through Security Tower with not an enemy in striking distance of ANY objective. Maybe these players are on strike until Brink is COD. Fixed. :slight_smile:

Exactly the problem, usually I can find some decent players who actually work together but lately its just noobs and the odd decent guy. Since I am forced to go solo most times, I just get bored. Much prefer a team effort.

Saw Jimmy James today which was a nice surprise. Opposing teams and it did end up being a good set of games until we got to CC.

That map I always vote against now since its either rape or be raped, they really need to fix that damn opening spawn. I refuse to kill anyone now if I am Res and they miss the first plant.

It’s really strange, I found myself in a 16 player (8v8) map the other day that had 5 human players against me, the only human on my team. Doesn’t make any sense. Is there a server setting to prevent this from happening?!?!

Yep, and didn’t get past the hack in Terminal and I think we did eventually blow the first objective in CC but didn’t get very far beyond that. Then it was time for lunch and I went to my local bar and got ****faced. I think I had some food… or maybe it was beer.

Unfortunately, the force balance cvar is odd. It’s enabled on !Oh My™Brink but doesn’t seem to force balance the human player numbers. You just have to ask nicely, and then maybe not so nicely. If we disabled the bots, it might work. If there are no bot players, does it work ? We don’t want to do that. If you join a server and you are the first, you just have to hang about for one more to join for a game to start. (ETQW ranked you have to wait for 6 players). So its not so boring waiting for other players.

Team balance is another matter. Even now, after 4 years with ETQW, there are still unbalanced games. (and that is assuming most players are not newbie but many are noobs) There are always the guys who only play GDF, only play attack, only play with his/her mate, won’t switch team to even teams …etc etc. We found that if you shuffle, people just leave and you can’t be sure the next game will be balanced anyway. So, it’s up to people on server to sort that out however you can.

And oh yeah, sniper noobs. They exist in every game I have ever played. RTCW, W:ET, ETQW, COD, BF and others… and even L4D. I think these kinda people just exist. Don’t think a server config or game developer will fix humanity. Objective based teamwork might just.

Super Cargo is leaving games too. I hammer timed him twice and he left :(. And then I was left with shooting AIs…

But then again it was 2 vs 1 on Reactor Defense :).

I feel the same way. If the teams are +/- 3 or more I will either switch or quit. It simply is no fun playing unbalanced games.

If force balance isn’t working, it’s mostly likely because bots are counted as players. So set min players to 6 so you don’t have bots and associated problems after that min player count is surpassed.

u know the truth now talk about me how i pwned u, rage quit? my bud is lagging disconnected timed out. but keep coming back in the game unlike u, never come back. everybody knows how we play. we are not an easy enemies we always give you a lost or hard time, no easy win against us. we keep a fair game balanced team match we switch to other team if they are few. unlike u, u like to team up with humans againt AI, so pathetic.

Oh you mean that game where you had 4 and my team had 2 guys on container city? Yeah real pwnage lol. don’t forget I won 4 and you won 3 that day. 2 of your wins were on container city and 1 on reactor lol. I showed mercy when you were all like I only had 4 guys boohoo hoo. Didn’t say a thing, but the moment you started winning (The moment my team started leaving) you were all like “aww yeah I’m da man.” Lol, and what happened to that 1 on 1? You never manned up to that ha.
