I'm I the only one with this problem?

(CinCirity) #1

I have posted this problem here before, but I didn’t get any help. And I can’t be the only one that has/had this problem.
The problem is I can’t launch the game. When I click play the little image appears in the bottom right corner of Dirty Bomb, then the big picture in the middle of the screen. After that nothing happens, no error messages or anything.

So far I have re-installed the game 4 times, verefied the gaming cache files, deleting the ShooterEngine.ini file. It’s really frustrating since I find this game really fun and well-made for being F2P.
Any help/solution is highly appreciated:)

You asked if anyone else is having this problem so i will just say that as far as i know, No. Not a single one of my friends have it and the same goes for me. Maybe its your PC. never heard of this problem before. Good luck, hope you find a fix!

most likely you are running a program that xignpoop doesn’t approve

Doesn’t it throw an error though. It did for me, when I had Sandboxxie still running. I just took 10 minutes to work out what it was throwing a fit at and when I closed it the game worked again.

I have seen plenty of people having this problem, but they said it helped to re-install the game. I have done some more digging in the log files, and I am getting 3 error messages within this file, but I have no idea what they mean.
Error 1:Warning: Warning, Failed to load ‘PostProcessChain Post_Process.PPC_Default’: Failed to find object ‘PostProcessChain Post_Process.PPC_Default’

Error 2: Critical: appError called: Ran out of virtual memory. To prevent this condition, you must free up more space on your primary hard disk.

Error 3:Address = 0x74fb812f (filename not found) [in C:\Windows\system32\KERNELBASE.dll]
Address = 0x4a87e1 (filename not found) [in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\Win32\ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe]
Address = 0x660020 (filename not found) [in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\Win32\ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe]
Address = 0x66af6658 (filename not found) [in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Dirty Bomb\Binaries\Win32 bbmalloc.dll]

The thing about running out of memory can’t be right. I’ve managed to play this before, why would it not work now.

(Nail) #6

are you using a 32 bit OS ? the game requires a 64 bit OS since a patch or 2 ago

(CinCirity) #7

I am running a 32 bit OS, is that really the problem?

(Nail) #8

yes it is, sorry, the min requirements got changed

(CinCirity) #9

Well cut my dick off and call me Caitlyn, I’ll be damned…
Looks like it’s back to TF2 then, sigh
I had a blast those 32 minutes I got to play this, before this update was realeased.

I would be very surprised if the game simply refused to start if it saw a 32 bit OS. It should still try, but has a high chance of failure because of low ram.

I got 8gb of ram, that should be enough?

Well not if you have a 32bit system. That’s the problem, a 32bit system can only see 4gb. The other 4 might as well be scrap metal.

Oh wow, I did not now that. In that case I’m going to upgrade my system. Really appreciate the help I’ve gotten from this post, and hopefully this will help other people if they get the same problem.
