How long have you been trying?
Learning how to script properly can take a long time!
You just have to keep trying and be patient, eventually it will start making sence to you.
Just keep reading tutorials and keep checking samples and you will get it.
A common mistake is that people think they need to get to the level of scripting where they don’t need any tutorials or samples anymore. The truth is that most scripts who are very good at it still use tutorials or samples, albeit only for references to certain commands or keywords.
With that, my ‘ETScript’ program can help you. It offers help by showing you possible keywords that you might have been typing, aswell as how to use them, all at the same time that you are typing!
You might want to give it a try
The conclusion, there won’t be alot of people willing to help you write a complete script. Sure, you might find someone with some spare time who is willing to do it, but you are much more probable to find someone who wants to do just a piece of it, maybe because that piece is a bit harder than usual which offers them a challenge. But with the easy parts, which don’t require alot of scripting knowledge, you won’t find many people willing to do it… But good luck!
iv been trying to get my scrip working for 4 weeks now
what program is this ETscript and where can i get it
It is a script-editor for W:ET map scripts, like the one you are trying to make.
Usually, scripts are made with just notepad, which doesn’t really have alot of options and functions.
ETScript was written (by me) to behave exactly like Notepad, but also feature alot of options and functions that help you specifically for W:ET map scripts.
For example, you get syntax highlighting, which colors the keywords, comments etc in different colors, allowing you to see quickly what is what.
It also hosts a full script command reference (credit to Chruker who made it available on his site, I simply put it in my program) which you can view and edit seperately, but which also pops up under your cursor when you are typing.
Another great thing about it (in my opinion) is that it automatically ‘remembers’ how many tabs you had in your previous line, so it can add them when you press enter to go to a new line.
It also adds the “{ [enter][tab][enter] }” construction (used everywhere in the scripting language) automatically when you type a “{”.
But that’s just a few of the main features… Just check it out if you want to.
Note that it does not (and really cannot) actually help you learn how to script, it just aids you in the actual writing of the script, not so much in the ideas that are behind it. But again, there are enough tutorials or samples (all default map scripts are available in your W:ET install folder, look in the “maps” folder if you didn’t already know) that will help you!
Oh yeah, get the latest version (0.6) here:
