I'm getting tired of way lopsided games.

I for one would like to see a lot less shuffles on servers. Why? Well just because votes comes up a lot when it does no good or makes the game annoying. For example, axis and allies has almost the exact amount of XP on each side, it’s tough to progress for allies but the game is fair (always been easier to defend than attack). What will a shuffle do here? Absolutely nothing. It seems as soon as one side has a hard time to progres they vote for a shuffle instead of trying harder to overcome the obstacles.

Also a lot of times a shuffle is sugested when there’s only just a few minutes left of the game, so a shuffle will restart the map all over instead of just finishing the map, change to a new one and issue a shuffle at the start of the round. If I played a map for 20 minutes I don’t want to start all over again.

There are situations where a shuffle is a good thing to do, but the number of votes raised for a shuffle nowdays are just silly.

Agreed.

The “Pro” server in my sig shuffles after every Stopwatch round (i.e. map as it plays Stopwatch AB mode), and the “Campaign” server between Campaigns. I find that works quite well, especially as Force Team Balance is also enabled making it harder for players to swap sides all the time to get an “easier ride”.

Yes, the maps are generally easier for the defensive team. Thats why good players should slightly prefer the offensive team to make the games tight and even. Now it seems the opposite is going on sometimes.

Maybe its fun to team up with some ppl you know and own the opposition one night. But the opponents sure wont have any fun. Do you think in the end that they would like to come back and play with you again?

If you dominate on defense, consider switching teams

Ditto

I get tired of the lamers that call a vote just because they are getting schooled. From my observations, it’s usually the player that never seems to move up in xp and hovers around the bottom of the list. These type of players may have been on the server longer than I but are usually surpassed by me in rank and xp by the end of a campaign.

If I seem short, it’s just my way of venting my own frustration about a game that I enjoy being tainted by annoying votes that serve no purpose.

I’ve always found that the ‘really good’ players tend to vote for a shuffle when things are clearly un-balanced. They also tend to be the first to switch sides to the weaker team (probably because they like a bit of a challenge).

It’s usually the lamers who can’t get xp on their own, but need to go up against a bunch of noobs to do any good that like the unbalanced teams.

Well, I guess we can agree that, in general, it is easier to defend than to attack. Perhaps one solution would be better map design.

I am not a map maker and do not pretend to be; however, I do know that on Railgun, the guy who put both exits for axis in the same general spot should be flogged. A back way out of there would make the game a bit more challenging for allies that have 5 Field Ops pounding the place.

To a lesser extent, Gold Rush can be a real pain if spawn is being pummeled; although, at least there is a second spawn point.

I really like some of the new custom maps comming out though.

Not so sure about that anymore, it used to be like that. Now it seems like a few good players who know eachother in some sense tend to team up for some victory-whoring. The other day for example we played fueldump, we got the tank over the bridge but not further. After the round ended I had like double the XP as my best teammate but there were 5 on the axis team at about my level. Not that XP is everything but I think you get the picture.
Before that I was on the axis team and we won radar with both radars up and crushed the allies on rail gun in about 7min. After that I switched because the teams were clearly unbalanced and fueldump as allies is the hardest map. Sadly the rest of my previous team thought 30min spawnrape was more fun than taking up the challenge.

I disagree. As RocketGrrl says, a lot of times I too will jump to the weaker team and try to turn the tide of a game. It can be very satisfying to help a weaker team out enough to win. At least this way I make the decision to change sides and it is not left up to some n00b that can’t shoot straight.

I think everyone is in agreement that xp isn’t everything. But I do beleive that it is a good indicator of a persons abilities. If you don’t support your team and know your objectives, you are not going to accumulate xp points. At the end of the map, the k/d ratio is a good sign of a players aiming ability in a fire fight. I use the player stats and top accuricies menus all of the time throughout the game to see my progress as well as the other players.
