IlluminateRawLightmap suddenly taking _much_ longer

My map used to compile in 10 minutes but a while ago after I did some minor changes a compile with the same setting now takes several hours.

It seems to be stuck here:

— SetupEnvelopes (fast) —
18390 total lights
833 culled lights
— IlluminateRawLightmap —
0…1…2…3…4…

It will eventually go on but only after several hours. A compile without light only take 1 minute.

As far as I remember the only thing I’ve changed is that I’ve adjusted some brushes, removed a few light entities, added some clip brushes…no major changes.

Any suggestion to why it’s suddenly taking so long? Any way of knowing what it’s doing?

Perhaps you have opened a gap somewhere that makes to larger areas share some light
and thus taking longer for lighting.
This might e.g. happen by error if you select another brush than you were working on.
Or it might be the clip brushes, i dunno.

I bet q3map2 is just kidding.

I also experienced q3map2 suddenly stop thinking at the end of light phase but re-running it just solved.
Version is 2.5.14.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I figured it out by deleting parts of the map and then trying a compile again. I finally tracked it to a small part of the terrain I had modified a while ago. I deleted and recreated the brushes here and now I’m back at 10 minute (test) compiles again!
