IFF & ammo/medpacks

(Rémy Cabresin) #1

Would it be an idea to have team based indicators? Right now if you are low on health you can see an enemy throw medpacks at his teammates because the medpacks will get a HUD indicator on your screen. To me this feels kinda weird that I get that information for free(I immediately know there are two enemies there and they are healing up). Same goes for ammo packs.

Make it so that an enemy can’t see the medpacks my team throws(as hud indicators) on the floor and I can’t see the medpacks my opponents throw around.

Semi related but these indicators are also a silly indirect nerf to for example Sawbonez medpacks in corners to support teammates but enemies will know where those medpacks immediately :frowning:

While we’re at it: Can we pls rethink the thresholds for the symbols to pop up. Or even better: Set them ourselves?

as a fieldops id actually would use ammo packs asbait with great results. the only thing thats missing is a proxy throwing a mine underneath

And while were at it can we fix the special abilities so that throwing packs (whether ammo or meds) is always Key-4 so I don’t kill my teammates with the airstrike marker?

Please fix Ammo / Medpack bind !!!
Every time I switch from sawbonez to skyhammer and want to drop ammo I launch my strike beamer …
This makes me MAD !!! NEED FIX ! Or give the ability to change keybinding for each merc (even if that’s via ini files)

you can make a config file for them and just execute them via keybind

You just need to place cfg file in steamapps/common/Dirty Bomb/ Binaries

For example this is what I did

fop.cfg contains:

setbind Four "QuickItem2Cmd" 1
setbind Five "QuickItem1Cmd" 1
setbind G "WeaponSlotFour" 1
setbind H "WeaponSlotFive" 1

then you just setbind Period exec fop.cfg and/or place the bind in your ShooterInput (depending on whether it is readonly)

  Bindings=(Name="Period",Command="exec
fop.cfg",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=True,bIgnoreShift=True,bIgnoreAlt=True)

repeat for med.cfg containing whatever binds for med you want and map it onto another key, such as Comma for example.

Now when you want to switch to medic just press the bind key (,) and boom you have your packs on the same key as your field ops. When you switch back to fop just press your key you set to fop.cfg (.)

The only problem that I’ve run into with this method is that after I log off and log back into the game I have to make sure when I first join a game that my binds are right for the class I’m playing

And there may actually be a way to have a toggle of the two binds on a single key. I haven’t bothered to see if it would work because I got a third config file just for Fletcher.

This is excellent work and well appreciated Demolama; much like class & character binds for ETQW. But wouldn’t it be so simple if developers were just consistent in their use of keys for special abilities?

You throw health packs, ammo packs or grenades with Q or 4. You place ammo and healing stations with E or 5?

Lost count of how many times this totally valid issue has been raised, yet still no fix for it. Probably one of the most confusing thing about this game

I have 4 different binds I use, depending on the merc…sometimes I want quickability, and other times I don’t, so that adds a level of complication and is why I have 4.

What they need is merc context sensitive binds so you don;t have to change them when you switch mercs.
