If anything the new Trainyard is now more defender friendly.

We are playing 5v5 pugs right now on the DBN server and we were just discussing how it feels more defender friendly now if anything. If you push mid, your left side vision is blocked off by the fences, and you push right you have no idea if anyone is hiding in top ammo house because you can no longer see inside the window.

When attacking, you just have loads of blind corners now. It’s really hard to push if you fail on the first attempt.

Thoughts?

I think that the new MG is broken as hell. You can mow down defenders getting to the first objective on the fastest way.

Not really, I think. If you could coordinate and act fast enough, Attackers that camps on the MG room can be wiped easily

If anything, bigger openings means bigger chance of getting killed

I hate those MG modifications as well. I tend to hate all MGs anyway. I was against those modifications from the start. I can’t hide that I was somewhat disappointed to see that those got finally implemented. Fortunately it seems easy to get rid of the MG if you are in the ammo house : there’s a small window allowing you to do it.

That window jump to MG house on first OBJ is way too easy. It gives attackers a fast route. It was not even that hard to master although it could be hard to succeed it every time.

I have not played it much since MOFO though.

The window to MG room was pointless to change, as was the opposite one. And the MG itself was another stupid change.

Of course, you can wipe them out in a coordinated attack, and it’s not a big issue in, let’s say comp or pugs/tournaments. But in pubs it’s pretty common that you need to get ASAP to the bomb-site and defuse it with the barrier being closed. And the fastest way is running straight into the MG. You simply don’t have the time to get around the bridge or around the MG room and try to wipe out the room.
Back in the days you could kill the MG guy from the direct path without him just spraying down the defender wave.

I mainly take the back road and jump onto those boxes next to the wall and shoot anyone on the MG in the head before they even know that I am there. this change doesn’t affect me at all.

why do you think they changed it? so its easier to repeat of course.

I think the first stage secondary has more meaning now. Before you could actually leave it closed a still defend rather well. Now you have to make sure it’s open to allow another possible route I think.

(Tanker_Ray) #11

First and Second is still hell. I have no idea about Third stage because Defenders have won all the time 2 days ago when I played 8 hours straight to taste how update went.

I felt it’s a bit better than before, but still not that great.

Every time I’ve been on the defending side I’ve lost so far. I think the final objective is way too attacker focused, the second delivery objective should just open ot the other side after the first delivery instead so it’s not so easy for attackers to deliver both.

(doxjq) #13

I should note again that my experiences were in 5v5 pugs where things are a little more co-ordinated, not pub games.

Totally different play styles.

(TeuFort) #14

The MG Change especially if you have an Aura set up on it and ADS the Defenders main push, you can have a real bundle of trouble. While the main Attack push seems to have additional cover from it, it feels like a middle finger to the Defenders.

(GatoCommodore) #15

i dont know why sd didnt think this through

(watsyurdeal) #16

Dominate and control the MG or strike the stairs before you push up. Its not that hard to grasp

I am shocked.

That’s a question I asked myself a lot in the past tbh.
