Ideas - what dirty bomb desperatly needs

(powi_) #1

So the player base getting lower and lower (u can check steamcharts for it), game progression slowed down (no major changes for months already), u see the game dying. Anyone who is not a teenager saw games dying out like this. This game isnt different either.

I just tought lets discuss things that dirty bomb desperately needs, to survive and start to grow again.

First lets see what dirty bomb HAS and its great.

  • Its free to play
  • Its NOT pay to win (devs should emphasise it more)
  • it has a great combat system (too much explosions tho, but i can live with that, and it helps newers players)
  • pretty fast and fun movement
  • great voice acting which makes it even more fun.

What dirty bomb needs to be a complete game? I think its just the balanced “casual matchmaking”. After u done this, u are good to go. Really, dont wait until u reach the point when there are simply no players left, just look on the constant decrease of players :/. (Oh and add hitsounds and antilag for spectators too, cause right now spec view is terrible).

So i just listed some stuff that i think is really important for the game to be successful. Also i think dirty bomb has the basics to become a great and popular game, i honestly think its better than overwatch. But why is overwatch so much more popular? Guess because it was ADVERTISED. And i gotta give that, it feels incredibly smooth, its fast, and u dont need skill for it  (which is why i hate it tbh)

So what dirty bomb desperately needs is f.ing advertising, EVERYWHERE.
Advertise on gaming related sites.
Advertise on streaming sites.
Dont be a pussy and ask popular streamers to play the game… for some days, a week or something, it will bump up the playerbase so much.

So okay, this thread turned out kinda terrible, but u guys can still make it great by adding great ideas ! i just wanted to say the most important thing would be advertising this awesome game, thats it.

I’ve only spent a couple of days on the forums but from what I’ve read so far quite many want this game to be advertised more.

Overwatch is so popular because it has all the means to be advertised and hyped up. Blizzard has several succesful series and games already. That fact alone is enough to create hype for a new upcoming game.

@_powi nexon did invest in to advertising the game but at the moments splash damage want to work out the bugs and get all the features they want in to the game before the advertise it again.

I know the spectate cam might not to amazingly smooth but they said they were going to be looking to helping the commentators of competitive events by looking in to doing up things to do with spectating.
and I think it would be nice if SD would talk to there competitive scene a bit more directly (i’ve seen quite a few teams leave to compete in over games :frowning: )

at the end of the day there’s not point advertising a game that’s not fully finished

(powi_) #4

@Daga heh u write nexon did invest into advertising, however i didnt meet any dirty bomb advertisement at all.

I played Enemy Territory for years and it has a little community at a website called crossfire, thats the source i know that dirty bomb even exist. If im not part of that community i wouldnt even know anything about dirty bomb.

And what about overwatch advertisements? On twitch.tv, on every channel i watched there were overwatch advertisements for weeks.

So the point is… if u advertise your game, do it fine  just as i wrote, pay popular streamers to play the game, pay twitch to play your advertiesement at least for a week.

Anyway i dont think the game can be “fully finished”, they need to take the step to get out from beta. I agree, they should finish casual matchmaking and take care of big bugs, but then what are they waiting for? Just go and publish the game and advertise.

(Dagasawr) #5

well there quite a video sponsored videos on youtube from people like markerplier , STAR_ (a tf2 youtuber) and other i cant think of them off the top of my head.

that would be a lot of money to invest to get streamers on board with it and I really dont think SD/Nexon want to put there game out on show when its missing some key features like causal MM which might be here soon and things like better spectating (so the competitive scene can grow a bit.)

also at the moment its nice to have a small community because it means its easier for the devs to work out what the community wants.

@RazielWarmonic said about this on the dev stream so many she could explain it better

(powi_) #6

@Daga ye fine, but what Raziel is saying might be just pure marketing. Ofc she cant say “well the game is dying and we will abandon the project”, even if it would be the case she would say otherwise until the very end.

I just hope the devs didnt give up on the game, because i think the game is good, has potential, but they gotta understand that they need to advertise it to a big population, there is no other way, they gotta take the risk and invest a lot into advertising.

If they dont take the risk, and dont invest in it, there is no way dirty bomb will be popular.

What they need is a better option to spend cash on. The cases are absolutely not worth the money. I would love to support them but there is nothing attractive to spend monies on. Some nice cosmetics for mercs to spice things up would be great. And without rng please  With more income they might be able to develop the game faster and employ some great artist who create distinctive skins , not like these rogue en vouge lazy ass concept

(Dagasawr) #8

@_powi the game isnt dying and i cant speak for them but i think there waiting for causal match making to be out first.

@Icecoal well tf2 has survive over 7 years on the crate system but its a lot cheaper and I think the problem is that the unboxing is directly linked to what loadout you use so there’s not a lot of interesting things to unbox maybe they should add like a trinket/cosmetic case so people would be more likely to buy them (but not silly hats ones to fit the them).

also i bet there some great artists in the community so why not open it up to us to design some with like a competition or something.

(Icecoal) #9

@Daga true , I bet if SD gave the necessary tools , the community would create some really neat skins

(Szakalot) #10

more drama please

(JonBongNoJovi) #11

Game needs map tools for community made maps ( old school UT,Quake, COD:UO style) , this would help no end .

Welcome to the post-factual world, where you make up you own facts, and base your oppinion upon those.

(TheStrangerous) #13

More maps, not just any maps, the maps that have good sense of verticality like Gallery, and no invisible walls.

(Orivar) #14

Look at the game right now, we get NOTHING each update, NOTHING. Maybe they are short on money? or maybe they dont care? (How many disagrees can we get?)

(ImSploosh) #15

[/quote]

Fucking this x10000.

Gallery is an awesome map. So is Dome. But the invisible walls (there’s a lot of them), often take away from the greatness of the maps.

Now what Dirty Bomb needs: More maps, more gamemodes, more consideration for the players (like with the current crafting system which hopefully gets a huge revamp).

We desperately need maps though. As others have mentioned, user-generated content would be ideal and is essentially free updates (they don’t need to pay players who make maps of course). Not only that, but the playerbase can come up with some fantastic ideas/creations for the game which will not only help it survive, but thrive in the long run.

(CCP115) #16

SD said a long time back that they wanted to finish adding features (Maps, mercs, gamemodes) then take the game out of Open Beta to full release. THEN they would push marketing.

I can understand concern for this game, but think of it this way: Here in OCE, the quietest region (debatable) the servers are full a lot of the time.

Also, just to touch on Blizzard and Overwatch, there’s no point talking about their marketing. Blizzard have a loyal fanbase, as well as insane amounts of money. Seriously, they had such a massive marketing campaign, I’m not sure it’s possible to top that if you aren’t one of the industry juggernauts (Ubisoft, EA, etc.)

(PleasantWheat) #17

Ok about the advertising, all we need to do is advertise it ourselves. How you ask? Well it’s simple.

Dirty Bomb SFM poon

(Dysfnal) #18

@AnotherGuy how about None?

(SkrubLord) #19

Content. This game needs content. And I’m not talking about cases when you log in. Im talking about maps, mercs, gamemodes. And the devs need to show more love for the (small) playerbase, right now they are screwing us (especially veterans and players that have been around for a long time) in the arse with a cactus.

(pumpkinmeerkat) #20

Casual matchmaking, community servers, and more players.

Less drama.
