Played Halo before? You know what I’m talking about.
I was thinking of someway we could improve the melee system without removing the turn speed limiter.
Include assassinations, hold right mouse button when behind someone with a melee out to kill and instagib them at the same time, like in the scrub trailer when phantom stabs vassili in the back. By assassinating someone from behind it would lock you into an animation, different melee weapons different timers?
Just an idea, putting it out there, no hate please.
Idea - Assassinations.
Er…I believe there was a reason why the katana and Phantom was nerfed like a b*tch.
Seems a bit too gimmicky for a competitive shooter.
Also running up behind a group of people and instagibbing the lot would be pretty messed up.
Outside of it being a special ability for a melee centered merc
, it would be a bad idea.
Melee was overall nerfed for a reason. Considering how easy it is to get behind someone and land a blow, this would get ugly fast. Think about everytime you get flanked by Aura or Proxy, now imagine that you die instantly if they do (atleast now you got a slim chance of survival). And than add to that every other merc when he manages to get behind you.
Oh please no. Although I do think melee needs a tweak, this has to be the worse way to do it. It would make any of the fast classes gods instantly and would throw class balance out the window. Melee shouldn’t be a one hit IMO, if it was you would get everyone playing phantom or red eye because they have the best melee abilities and half decent speed and the people that don’t own these mercs would use aura.
Regardless if this is a good idea or not, Phantom was was nerfed because of front stabs for the most part.

I feel this game is too fast paced for this mechanic. You would end up with people trying to circle strafe you a lot. In Battlefield, you don’t get close quarter combat outside of deathmatch (and I have played knife only rounds of deathmatch in BF3 successfully), so an assassination that you mostly use on surprised targets is fine.
In this game, with jump waving as common as it is already, a mechanic like that would be useless to the average noob, and infuriating if utilised by a pro player.
