I would like to automatically skip the introduction videos

The intro videos, while nice the first half dozen times, really grate on me now. I am sick of 2 things:

  1. M1 not being an acceptable any key during loading screen audio

  2. Having to then use M1 to skip the videos I’ve seen at least a dozen times each.

While it is nice to have context, I am sick of having it forcefed to me, TWICE, each mission.

I want to play the game, not watch this same, tired, formulaic cutscene again.

Anyways. I would appreciate this feature being added to the gold DLC. If anyone knows a console command, file rename, or other means of working around watching the same cut scenes every match I would love to know it.

Thank you for your time. I’m enjoying the beta, and am hoping that we paying beta testers get some sorta hat or something when the gold DLC hits.

I’m pretty sure the intro videos act as the loading screens.

The static image that has the voice over by chen or mokoena, which say “Loading” are certainly, by definition, screens during which things load.

My issue with those is that I can’t click my mouse as a “press any key” when they are done loading.

My issue with the rendered, moving, cutscenes between the same 3 guys with the same dialogue and the same outfits that I’ve seen before and can skip at any time is that: I have to click the “skip” button.

I’d be ok if it was just pressing any key twice, or pressing the same button with the mouse twice, but the system as implemented is simply irksome and annoying.

I also find that odd, as other games do tend to accept mouse clicks when waiting for “any key”. Maybe they think we PC users are constantly “twitching” and accidentally skipping things? :slight_smile: heh

Indeed, and those are definitely not loading screens - you can skip them as soon as they appear, and the round will be underway. It’s not the end of the world, but an auto-skip option would be nice, once you’ve seen them all.

You can press the [Enter] key twice. Not the best key IMO, but it works.

The cutscenes do give you a chance to change class before the round starts or continues (from the spawn menu), so they do have some purpose.

It might seem a daft compromise, but I’d like the ‘press any key’ button to be a button. It looks like a button.

…and F1 for an auto-skip option on the little cartoons. They’re entertaining the first few times but really grating after that.

You mean you don’t like playing “place the accent” when Chen is talking? :slight_smile: I can’t figure out if he’s the Chinese shop owner from Tremors, or someone who travels a lot and tends to pick up parts of an accent as he goes…

find the following folder:

[root… ]\Steam\userdata[different for everyone but something like 34405]\22350\local\base

see the ‘cfg’ file there, that’s where all the key bings and things for the game sit, open it up and look and the top will say the file will be overwritten with defaults each time the game is updated/etc. and to put any custom binds/settings into the following file:

autoexec.cfg

seta com_bootLogo “0”

and BOOM, you now load directly into the character select screen

He’s talking about the intro videos when you load a map. hitting ENTER twice is the only current fastest solution but yeah I agree, let mouse1 be a “any button” (lol) or give option to skip videos altogether.

ahh… well isn’t that a setting in the server? I haven’t gotten around to twiddling with the server stuff because I have no plans to go down that road, but I have played on some servers where the intro vid never appears, just the loading screen narration. Press any key and we’re already in warmup or respawn que, depending on when you joined.

I was hoping that was a server setting and not a random glitch

ye i agree with this, i watched the intro videos at first, but after a couple of times it kinda gets annoyng, in every map change you need to press any key to skip the loading screen chat thing, then press skip in the video, that gets boring…
