I want to give you money

(jubilantManatee) #1

I’m really enjoying this game.

I’ve managed to unlock all but 4 mercs.

I’m really down to the mercs that do not seem too enjoyable for my play, but I see the benefit in all mercs, and would like to unlock them all.

That said, I have been playing for free, and have mostly unlocked the classes I’m interested in playing.

I would like to spend some money, to support the game. If a new merc is introduced within a month, I pledge I will buy them at release - and buy them for my friend that I introduced to the game!

When is the next merc coming?

(neverplayseriou) #2

don’t, just don’t.

Believe me you’ll regret spending money on this game once you see what you can buy in other games with your money and how little rng other games will have.

Just counted my total db transactions which is 77 euro’s and yet I’ve never dropped a cobalt from an elite case, in tf2 I could’ve just bought a ton of taunts and actual cosmetics for a specific class with no rng included.

He says he wants to spend money to support the game, not to support other games where he might get something more shiny. I’m in exactly the same boat, if the monetisation was right I’d happily spend money on the game, but there’s not really that great a way to do it beyond buying the odd stack of elite cases.

and I said that once you start supporting this game it will only dissapoint you and show no appreciation at all for your money.

He wants to support the game because he likes it, that’s all that matters.

Free To Play games survive off people who pay money to support the game. Getting shinies and whatnot is an added bonus. If people didn’t pay money towards this game, the game would not be able to exist since it isn’t making any revenue from the game itself. Thus, then people end up paying a lot of money (I think I’ve spent around $125-ish myself) to basically cover for those who don’t spend any money at all.

No money = No game

Please support Dirty Bomb.

(neverplayseriou) #7

can’t even say that I think it’s not a smart move to spend money on this game without getting a warning, just wow…

It isn’t what you said. It is how you said it. If you suggested to avoid RNG and just get things when you know what you are purchasing then that is different. If you have a problem with people spending ANY money at all on a f2p game and nobody spends any money then the game will certainly die. If you actually read the OP he said he wanted to buy a merc. Not that he wanted to spend $100 on RNG cases. His question was when the next merc was coming out. Not, “Should I spend money on rng or mercs?”.

So no, telling people to never support the game isn’t something we encourage. In fact we discourage it. Personally, if somebody wants to spend money on RNG that is up to them. I waste my own money on RNG against my better judgement. But I don’t tell people to go spend money or not to spend money. I don’t campaign against games I regretted putting money into either.

I completely agree about buying Elite cases, but your statement "and I said that once you start supporting this game it will only dissapoint you and show no appreciation at all for your money. " goes way too far. He isn’t putting money in to get an edge or anything like that. Based on what he has said he can VERY easily earn the mercs with credits. He is doing this because he wants to SUPPORT THE GAME DEVS.

There is nothing wrong with that and his only real regret would be if he hates the playstyle of the next merc. But that is his choice to make, not yours.

Well, I would probably not be too fond of Turtle, if he is the next merc.

A shield deployable seems possibly interesting, though most often it is just better to go with a merc with destructive capabilities over a utility ability.

For example, I would argue that Fragger is almost always better than Thunder.

If you can hit with a stun nade, you could have hit with a death nade - and at least damaged the other players, instead of taking down possibly one and having the rest get pissed when the brief stun wears off and mow you down.

At the very least, if i hate Turtle, his release would give me a whole new merc to antagonize!

I’m thinking a Stoker cocktail or a well times Fragger nade is going to ruin many Turtle parties.

With all the time I’ve put into the game, I think it’s really fair to give some money for my good overall experience.

Please give me at least one more merc to unlock soon, so I’m tempted to purchase instead of credit unlock.

(Tenebris) #10

You could always just buy credit boosters and play as normal. you earn the credits to unlock the next merc and you support the dev’s like you wanted.

(jubilantManatee) #11

You know, that is very possible!

I have not really browsed the store, so I did not think to purchase boosters.

If the boosters are worthwhile, then I will go that route.

It’s likely a but of a wait until Turtle, may as well just unlock everything through xp. By the time he arrives, I will likely have a stockpile of credits. (I play often)

I enjoy all of the interplay between the different merc classes, and welcome new playstyles, weapons and loadouts. More mercs is better, as it creates new experiences on the battlefield through the exponential options in merc team compositions.

(jubilantManatee) #12

I just bought the most expensive booster available- youre welcome free loaders, I’m helping develop Dirty Bomb!

Ok, please release Turtle now.

On the contrary, the frag nade might plink you a couple of easy kills, but that concussion grenade is capable of blinding 4-5 people off spawn at the same time, which is usually more than enough time to kill them all with the Stark while they are stationary. Might take a little longer but all in all I actually think the concussion grenade is a safer way to obtain more kills in its current state.

I’m often picking 60+ kills with Thunder in an objective game now, tbh I struggle to do this with Fragger.

Sorry for the off topic post, just wanted to add that though haha.

(jubilantManatee) #14

null
Thunder has his place, I like him and use him quite a bit.

But Fragger, with good timing, is hands down easy kills. And neutrilize deployables. And splash other enemy- all at the same time!

Though to the point of that excerpt you quoted- Turtle has no grenades or offensive abilities.

Unless he can deploy a turret wall that can be mounted.

But I think he has a just a passive, placable wall.

If you want to quote from a mobile device you need to ‘request desktop site’ before composing your response. To do this on Chrome (mobile):
tap the three vertical dots in the top right > check the ‘Request desktop site’ checkbox. The webpage will automatically reload so you can use BBCode.

And to repeat what @Dox said,

(frostyvampire) #16

If you want to support the game, buy elite cases.
I don’t recommend you buying stuff you can buy with ingame money for real cash. Sure, it supports the game but you don’t get anything special from it, only get the mercs faster. Elite cases can only be bought with cash so buy them instead. 10 case elite bundle is 35$

(Tenebris) #17

Honestly if some of the things you buy were cheaper, I’d spend money on this game. I bought a merc and 3 cases one time but everything else doesn’t seem like its worth my money. Credit boosters are nice though.

(bontsa) #18

I for one actually think buying mercs is the only way to both show support and gain something for your moneys. Bought 1 pack of 3 mercs and 3 mercs with real cash, and got money put aside for Turtle whenever he makes his appearance.

I feel mercs are only thing in store at the moment (besides credit boosters but I have no use for those and they’re rather bad profit/cost- wise) only merchandise in DB’s store that is not a spit in the face for paying player and is somewhat good cost relative to its benefits.

RNG is definitely must in free-way of doing things in order to make purchases “worth” something, but when case-buyer is exposed to same amount of RNG bullcrap as “free-user” there just isn’t reason to buy them in my honest opinion, hence I am and keep boycotting those.

Sure, it supports developing process. Nothing wrong in that, but also I don’t see anything wrong in also wanting something properly executed back as a player when supporting. I just see there are ways where system can be both player-friendly and profitable from marketing point-of-view, hence it would be for the best to stay away from cases altogether forcing system to be changed at some point. Being realistic though, it’s unlikely ever going to happen so gotta suck it up.

(CadGamings) #19

If you’re going to spend money I’d recommend buying merc, or pack better yet the Down and Dirty pack, that’s pretty good value!

What you don’t want to do is buying cases because you WILL get sh*t, but you’ll feel the urge to buy more because your luck can’t possible be that bad ever again…right!?

Well it will…so don’t buy cases

Play Dirty Bomb so you don’t have money to do drugs
