I thought 1.16fps was glorious...

(K1X455) #1

But I was W w www r r o nng.

I wasn’t fast enough to catch the 0.4x fps that happened in Execution today to make a pic, but it was like the 10th minute, 2nd map, 2nd half (after changing sides).

Audio stuttering was sss ss s sss ss s oo o ooo o oo o bb bb bb b bb aa a aa a aa aa dd d dd dd, I swear some shit is really on the game.

So i tried a few configs such as texturepoolsize = 1, but it’s didn’t do anything if at all. I did notice in about 24~34ms reduction in latency though so my 180~184ms became 148~150ms.

So Dox told me to put up a thread here and ask the knowledgeables on their take cause we’re going to get bald in fixing something that the rest of the installed games say that everything is OK except of course, DB.

Ticket:#306053
Board: ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming, with onboard intel discrete graphics processor.
CPU: Intel i7-6700K @ 4GHz (4C,8T) operating at factory default
GPU: ASUS ATI Radeon RX480 8GB, not OCed, dynamically ramping clock gpu based on graphics load Driver Ver 17.2.1
RAM: Corsair 32GB DDR4 LPX Vengeance, slightly overclocked to match CPU bus frequency, 8GB reserved for drive cache for super fast loading of whatever textures and whatever is loaded/unloaded frequently as managed by ASUS Ram Cache.
Audio: ASUS Xonar U7, Realtek HD Audio, AMD HD Audio on AOC 2460G4 monitor
OS: Win10 Pro64 to match Intel i7-6700K 64 bit cpu
Keyboard/Mice: Does it really matter?

Before you start thinking of temperature throttling, the CPU and GPU have been monitored and both are well within their nominal operating temperatures despite the onset of spring/summer. Of course the ambient air temp in winter is cooler, but they are still far below their “operating limits that should cause concern”.

So, I suspected previously that the GC in effect (if it is/was in effect) was faulty and thus I stop start DB again and this is how it looks like for reference:

reference

I’m actually getting an extra 10~14 fps above the nominal 210fps I normally get, but just today, I got the uber gg gg ggll lll o o oo o r rr rrii iii ooo oo uu sss 0.4 fps.

EDIT:
[] added OS in use to comply with TS Rules
[
] Tried GPU driver rollback… no change
[] Tried disabling RaptR (as recommended by AMD)… no change
[
] Tried stop start DB… performance OK in first 7 minutes and steadily decreasing towards 12 minutes of play.
[] Tried switching to on board Realtek HD Audio instead of Asus XONAR U7; also tried disabling one audio device and enabling using one… no change
[
] Tried lowering graphic settings by turning off
[]Motion Blurr Pause[]Ambient Occlusion[]Anti-Aliasing[]Dynamic Shadows[]Fog Volumes[]Light Shafts[]SH Secondary Lighting[]Bloom[]Depth of Field[]Lens Flares[]Light Shafts[]Dynamic Shadows[]etc
These settings are usually on by default as prescribed by AMD/ATI and the game just looks like 5H1+
[
] Tried updating to latest ATI Radeon Crimson Edition driver 16.10.2, then to 16.11.1, 16.11.5, 16.12.1, 17.1.1, 17.2.1… no change. Conclusion: It’s not a firmware problem.
[] Tried reverting to default HUD and performed “Verify integrity of game cache” on STEAM… no change
[
] Console command KillAllSounds extended the average play-time by 2~3 minutes, so a very quick Stopwatch game can be played and is possible without hitching. You guys better look at audio garbage collection as well
[] Disabled XBOX_DVR and associated settings in Win10… no change
[
] Tried to disable audio enhancements in Win10 as per instructions found here… no change
[] Tried unplugging “redundant pointing devices” from a solution done here… no change
[
] Re-configured UE3’s BaseEngine.ini; some audio stutter fixed and a full length stopwatch game is now playable. However after 30mins of gameplay, the same symptoms of audio stuttering and fps dropping persist.
[] It was suggested I backup and delete my Config files, and perform a verify integrity of game cache via steam… no change; still best result was re-configuration of UE3’s base engine which allows me to play up to 30mins.
[
] Updated DB wih MOFO update… game lasts a full length stopwatch, but still, at the end of the full length stopwatch, the framerate suffers similar symptoms and I can bet my RX480 that I can still achieve a glorious 1.16 fps or the uber 0.4fps if I push it any further. All the MOFO update did was delay the inevitable. New benchmarks are made using older Gearbox/2K Borderlands 2 and later Ubisoft’s The Division (both are make very stable framerates)
[] Verified integrity of ndis.sys at \Windows\System32\Drivers as a general troubleshooting advice given here, but a binary comparison of the original file with a known source yielded no difference, so the ndis.sys file is intact and not corrupted as suggested in the thread
[
] Ran DB as usual, on Task Manager set execution priority of ShooterGame-shipping.exe to High and apply “end process” to BlackCipher.aes… game improved and longer game play. More stable but it takes two long games of Stopwatch to replicate the symptoms
[] Launched DB from AMD/Radeon ATI Crimson driver to see if any pre-video caching will affect any audio/fps stutter… no change
[
] Changed power management settings in Win10 as per instructions found here… no change; reverted back
[] Downloaded app suggested here but only marginal gains were observed. It only shows that netcode of ShooterGame32-Shipping.exe is the culprit in making excessive DPC calls or unhandled interrupts causing CPU overloading.
[
] Disabled secondary GPU (Intel HD Graphics 530) in Device Manager… no change :s
[] Disabled on board Intel Ethernet i219 system; rebooted; performed STEAM verify integrity of game cache… no change
[
] D9D suggested this fix and still, no change. Even my schitt looks better.

Disabled RTS of ESET anti-virus to see if hooked vectors are being picked up by it… no change; reverted back.
7min45sec into the game and 200+ fps… dropping steadily

(K1X455) #3

Here’s how I died 5x in a row suffering from the same symptoms.

(Rosskii) #4

yeah its the same thing I had, with my solution being unplug my joystick.

So, how long does it take you to go from 200fps to 11fps? For me it was about 30 minutes, which was roughly 2 maps.

Have you tried disabling your sound card completely and then playing a few maps with no sounds, as a test?

You said you unplugged redudent pointing devices, have you tried unplugging ALL usb ports that you dont use for the game?

I feel it is a memory leak caused by a peice of hardware or driver (sound driver maybe?), i suspect unhandled error messages coming from this and for whatever reason causing the game to get overloaded. It is actually effecting the CPU because my teamspeak also lags the sound like you described when this happened

The game isn’t playable without sounds (Proxy mines, Bushwhacker Turret, Arty/Skyhammer airstrikes, Kira Laser)… my mate claims that the game is already at a level called self flagellation so no need to intensify this with sound disabling.

Maximum playable game time from 236 down to 65fps is approximately 10minutes or 8 minutes short of a quality stopwatch game. I honestly like maxed out stopwatch games that last 28 minutes, but…

The monitor uses USB ports because my RX480 is matched with the AOC FreeSynch monitor. I can’t remove that. I’ve removed the 2 extra Sensei mice just to test and if it’ll make a difference but it didn’t. I’ve played other games on extended periods (Borderlands 2 using UE3, and Ubisoft’s The Division) and non of them displayed symptoms unlike DB.

(K1X455) #6

Nearly as glorious, but still the same symptoms after a firmware update from AMD.

It is now officially agonising to play the game. :s

(K1X455) #7

Hey,

Is this true?

Cause it’s Saturday, and I’m very pissed off at the fact that NGS is fking me over. This one attracts all sorts of data restraint and nullifies any agreement I made.

(Rosskii) #8

I dont know anything about that NGS, I just dont touch anything to do with game security.

I mean to disable the sound adapter in windows and test the game as a test. I understand its not at all enjoyable to play, but I suggested doing it just as a test, to see if it still lags. Because if you can find something that fixes it then you can focus your effort in that area to resolve it properly. If not then at least you know its not to do with the sound.

Yes I play all other games with no problem. Maybe open up the case and unplug any case usb hubs? ones that have a cable from the case to the motherboard? The issue is so similar to mine, it has to be a similar fix. Has to be USB related.

Also please take note, that when I started to lag really hard with 10fps, I could liturally unplug my joystick in realtime and the lag would instanlty dissapear and fps would return to a high number… So, get to the point where you lagging and then start pulling stuff out until you see the fps raise up. I mean unplug everything, keyboard, mouse, case ports… everything and then watch the fps reading. Good luck

(K1X455) #9

Again I attempted for the love of the game, to play Stopwatch and this is what I get at the start:

Approximately 13~14 minutes into the game…

At the 24th minute… GLORIOUS!!!1!1!

I’m getting seriously tired of this 5H1+

(bushyg) #10

Man, no response on this is just brutal.

Technical support hey.

(K1X455) #11

They are responding, every now and then but their response is just as bewildering as the problem itself. I’m communicating to them like me answering the question even before it gets asked.

(Rosskii) #12

The support thought the ticket system is very robotic, and there never seems to be an action plan, no real answers, just a generic response “oh thats strange, we’ll keep a look out in future”. There isnt much they can do though I guess

(basal) #13

Same here. Before update I had stable FPS after this glorious update have the same symptoms. Cause is simple, THEY CAN’T MAKE GAMES :frowning:
I don;t know if it’s helpful- I5 4590, GTX 660 Ti, 8 GB 1600 MHz OS Win7

(basal) #14

update:
I have downloaded and installed newest GPU driver. I was hope that after installing SP1 for Win7 i had Windows Aero working - and it works hopefully- but FPS drops are still exist…

(K1X455) #15

@basal Try reading up on this thread and see if the solution will work for you.

I have reason to believe that either ShooterGame.exe or BlackCipher.aes is flooding NDIS.SYS with interrupts and/or DPCs to cause high CPU utilisation.

(basal) #16

sorry i don;t get it. I’m not good at English I see only DPC latency and that’s all, i don’t know anything about this. I’ve downloaded LatencyMon but still don’t know why- cause i can;t interpret results…

(basal) #17

My mate suggest sth as temporary solution. In Aplication manager shooterGame-win32-shipping.exe ( I have) or DirtyBomb.exe must be set as high priority. This thing makes more comfertable than before -during 1 hour play i had 2-3 fps drops, but not spectacular as before ( from 120 to 90-100). He told me that ithere isn;t any solution, except SplashDamage update (patch)

(hungryLocomotive) #18

@basal i setting high priority but it doesn’t change anything , one week ago i could set affinity and priority of blackcheaper.aes but now after Mofo update i can’t setting it

(K1X455) #19

LatencyMon will allow you to see which apps/drivers are causing high DPCs (deferred procedure calls)
My mate suggest sth as temporary solution. You’re lucky you get to play 1 hour of play. I have to stop start DB after 25 minutes.

(pr0nflakes) #20

I have this issue since March this year. Reported here and on Warchest forum but still no solution.
