I think its coming soon.....

I’m not going to beg, but i think its time or the coming of time for a demo. I do not want anyone to say “get off the forums” or “shut up kid.” I’m just saying later this month, February, or at the beginning of end of next month ,March, the should release some kind of Demo/Beta for BRINK.

Also my last post was on advertising and i emailed the publicity director and this is what he replied-

   Hey Brian,

Thank you for your recommendation and your efforts in promoting the game!

We actually did some similar GameStop videos for Quake Wars our last game a few years back, so who knows, if we can find time to do something similar we certainly will do.
In terms of general advertising if you look at Bethesda’s previous titles like Fallout 3. they do a great job at release time, and Brink will be no different.

Many Thanks

There is a limited beta for Europe on the PS3.

I have a feeling there might not be a decent demo into like 2 weeks maybe a month before release and that’ll probably be if splash damage takes point on it. I can’t recall a single “Bethesda” title that had an extensive demo as they’ve had mostly single player platforms that wouldn’t fit in a demo.

That being said. I think if splash damage packaged a demo with 2 maps (First level of both sides security/resistance) and trimmed down the customization to a handful of weapons with not many attachments as well as maybe 2 or 3 archetypes per side to mix and match from and a few colors to keep those fun. Just slim down the customization to not much. The first level for each side. And access to just the medium body type and the ability to play with a couple of the “abilities” (both passive/active). And it MIGHT be feasible to ship a demo that downloads at under 5GB on PSN, PC, and XBOX Live.

demo after release seems to be best bet, may not be necessary

Demos on XBL are around 1-2gb tops.

5gb is not a demo - it’s an entire game.

You’re totally right. I don’t know what I was thinking with that total. The Crysis 2 MP Demo was 1.8 GB. And apparently Crysis has amazing graphics and should pack a lot in. And there was some varied customization in that demo “somewhat”.

I think if Splash Damage kept the demo under 2GB 2.5 tops they’d be doing well. And to have it come out well in advance wouldn’t hurt their pre-orders.

Thank you for the correction sir.

(PS: are you getting Two Worlds?)

sorry, but a demo like that would turn many people away. most people think that demos are the ABSOLUTE final say on the game, and if SP held anything back people would reject it because they are not willing to look into it any more.

(Jess Alon) #8

I don’t what you are talking about because those same people who would not buy it based on opinions of the demo WHICH IS A DEMO not housing the entire contents of the game would probably not preorder it or buy it first day in the first place. Sounds like you don’t have very much faith in splash damage to put together a quality demo. They wouldn’t just slap it together. They would think it out and nitpick it to death. And if there was no time to do it right it wouldn’t get done at all.

(Herandar) #9

That seems like the most likely scenario to me.

(SockDog) #10

As has been said before. A limited demo would give a limited view of the game (See ETQW Demo) and Brink’s appeal is it’s depth and variety. Freeplay weekends are a much better idea and also means SD can spend time polishing the game rather than making a demo.

(H0RSE) #11

Don’t Freeplay weekends only apply to PC though?

(SockDog) #12

Not sure what capabilities the consoles have. I know they can do timed demos so the question would be getting people to download a full game to play a timed demo, unlikely I guess. They can also rent the game where as the PC users can’t so it’s not like they don’t get an opportunity. Maybe Bethesda should do a free rental thing with Blockbuster or something.

I know this is grasping at straws but my issue is that a partial demo may not fully represent the game. With so many different aspects giving a shallow view of the game may be worse than no view at all.

Might be contradicting myself here but maybe a demo with some of the challenges and character customiser would be a good alternative.

(tokamak) #13

I think we all need to consider the immense success that was the MW2 demo. We really want that for Brink.

(Herandar) #14

That’s not really an option anymore. Brick and mortar rental chains are almost entirely dead.

(SockDog) #15

I’d originally written Gamefly then thought some smartass would say not everyone has access or wants to subscribe to that. Can’t win I guess.
