I think I'm feeling Buyer's Remorse

Thunder to me just feels incredibly useless, to be fair I haven’t yet tested him with the stark, but I found his lmg and the Timik on him incredibly underwhelming. Timik on Stoker for some reason feels more consistent. His lmg does surprisingly terribly in close quarters, which seems odd given it has a high rate of fire. The only thing I’ve liked about him so far is his concussion grenades… and I can’t even use them properly. I feel like I contribute more to the team playing as Red Eye using the PDP and missing all of my shots than I do playing Thunder.

Edit: This would be the first merc I ever would have felt buyer’s remorse for if the stark proves as ineffective as I’ve found both his lmg and timik.

The Timik feel difference is probably due to the mercs’ move speed difference. I feel that way about Nader and Sawbonez with the Crotzni

WAIT HAS THUNDER BEEN RELEASED YET?

(Hydrelion) #4

yes…

I’ve only used Thunder in Execution so far, with an Iron card with the MK46 and Kukri. I actually quite liked the feel of him. I agree that the MK46 can be a bit strange in CQC, but only when you’re right up in knife range with your target. I actually really like the gun, though I haven’t tried him with the Timik or Stark. It feels like a good head-plinker, a Hochfir-ified K-121. I might change my mind though, I have to keep playing him.

After playing with the stark, my opinion remains the same, he feels incredibly useless to me and incapable of killing people as Rhino, Fragger, or Nader can or contributing to the team as well as them. Overall his LMG feels too weak to warrant his gigantic hitbox. He could use 10-20 hp more than he currently has to make up for his hitbox.

Makes me wish it was Aimee instead that got added so I’d at least have the benefit of having gotten Phantom instead… who I could use to better effect than Thunder.

I don’t see who would take a flashbang over a grenade that just one-shots people :stuck_out_tongue:

Why does the guy carry such a huge backpack anyway?

@Aazhyd uhmm 5 back up lmg’s >.>

Well I guess it’s only fair that Thunder be a surprise dislike for me since Phoenix was a surprise like for me. I didn’t once feel like any of the success I had with Thunder was my own doing or skill, I lost every fair engagement in close quarters with the LMG for instance (losing to shotguns I understood). I felt completely worthless to my team playing him and me being almost always at the bottom of the scoreboard with very few kills solidified my opinion.

I feel like his concussion grenade should have gone to Phantom since it suits him much better (with it also serving as an EMP which would give Phantom appropriate team use) and Thunder should have gotten something that could kill people.

Huh, he was going to be my next purchase. Is he really that bad? Do you have some kind of explanation as to why you were just losing every engagement? Or all this is just mental? What about his concussion grenade?

(SaulWolfden) #12

His concussion grenade is the only thing I liked about him, I was losing every engagement because without headshots, his LMG is absolutely worthless in a fair close quarters battle due to the low damage output.

Clearly thinking of him as the guy that pushes and leads the charge was the wrong idea, he’s more a throw a concussion grenade and finish off enemies damaged by your allies already kind of guy.

Edit: To give you an idea of how much I dislike his LMG, I’d rather use the Dress in close quarters than the LMG, I have a fighting chance with that.
