I suck at modeling

Register with then look thru the map-center.com downloads

OK, i found alot of models, but what all do u got to do to get them to work. i put the MD3 in my models folder but when i call on it to show the model, it doesnt. and where do i put the .tga’s and all?

(thegnat) #4

The .md3 and the .tga should be in the same folder (e.g. etmain/models/mapobjects/skeleton). The .tga are in most cases the texture, that is applied to the model (skin).

In Radiant, just create a misc_model and point to the .md3 file as model.

ok, i noticed that a shader comes with most of the models to, do i put that in the same file or what?

(Jaquboss) #6

in scripts it “must be” , but I think that it will work without shader too , just there will be black place between some bones (most of them) …

(thegnat) #7

As Jaquboss said, the shader goes into etmain/scripts. If the model is made with a material, referencing to a shader, it won’t display properly as long as the image hasn’t the same name as the materialname.

(Lock Ness Monster) #8

ok, i placed the md3 and the tga in the same file, but when i try to access it, the md3 symbol thing will not take the shape of the skeleton, i have no clue what is wrong.

(thegnat) #9

Can you share the model(or the link), that we can have a look at it?

(Lock Ness Monster) #10

u would have to register to get the model from teh site, how do i post objects on here like models, it’d be easier that way.

(nUllSkillZ) #11

Please take a look at the path in the entity window “n”.
The path should not start with “c:/…”.
It should start with the path under etmain.
Normally it’s “models/…”.

You also need to make sure that the skin images are in the proper directory structure. I had a mapper complaining to me once that the models were unskinned. My answer to him was that he shouldn’t have moved the models into his own directories!

(Lock Ness Monster) #13

yes i did make sure the model key value in the entity window started with models instead of C:/. IT doesnt change though, and i cant figure out y since this is my first md3 import i guess u could say lol.

Found 5 downloads with skeleton models. Which one have you downloaded?

Cling-ons
impailed skeleton
Skeleton Cage
skeletons
skel_addon

(Lock Ness Monster) #15

all of them lol, i tired using the Cling-on ones first, then the impailed one

(thegnat) #16

Tried “Cling-ons”. Had no problems bringing them into a map. Just extract the folders from the shipped .pk3 into etmain and placed them as misc_models in a map.

Packed the models and the “sample-map” together: CLICK!

Hope it helps you.

I have a good feeling it well, thanks for doing that, especially making a test map of it, not many people do that anymore lol, thanks though
