I see bots scoring higher than entire teams

In most of my games online today, the end result of many stages is 4 or 5 humans on the bottom if the list with maybe 2-3500 xp, and bots crushing the scoreboard with 5-6500

Why is this? Players scoring 2500 or so aren’t bad, they understand how to play, but are the botsdoing all the objectives? Are they that accurate that they just rack up the most kills?

Honestly I am seeing the bots beating me to all the objectives that I want to accomplish. They’re playing the game for the players right now, at least in my experience online over the last two days (finally)

Part of me feels bots should be there for combat only andnot actually DO anything considered an objective. I also feel the matchmaking should be putting players in pregame lobbies and maxing the players out before starting, and bots should then fill any holes left by quitting players. None of this nonsense of joining a game and having 2-3 players and 12 bots. Those games don’t populate over time, they just get quit and the players look for games with people.

Discuss? I know I jumped around to a few points

Do bots lag?

Do bots dream of electric sheep?

I’ve seen the friendly bots do all sorts of stupid. In solo they just sit around and stare at the floor, or come running through doors shooting at the ceiling. Almost never see the bots in solo go for objectives.

But in VS I’ll see them guarding objectives, and going for offensive objectives.

One thing that seems to give you more points is getting kills closer to objectives, and passing out buffs. I think the bots get all the xp points they do because they just throw buffs to each other non stop when they’re just hanging out. Could be wrong

Yeah the bots are set to do objectives. Which in Brink you get more points for doing objective then getting kills. So if the human players are doing obj then they will have higher amount of xp.

I really don’t like bots at all in these games. They see through disguises, they will instantly turn and open fire as soon as you fire a shot with a silenced gun, and always manage to basically outperform all the human players on their team in basic combat. I know everyone has seen he instant about face turns or the steady supply of hadshots when they use a rockstedi.

I manage to weave through an entire team of real players to nail the one guy getting the objective only to have a bot turn a corner and gun me down with pinpoint accuracy when none of the real players could track my movements. Ugh :frowning:

Wow what is it. Bots are too dumb, bots are too smart? People can’t make up their mind.

AI bots are borderline retarded until the last 2 minutes of a match.
However, in contrast with this, enemy bots are exceedingly accurate and smart for the entire match.

Once this is sorted it’ll be a really fun game, until then it’s just an infuriating clusterf-ck.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I really came on here to moan about the AI, but I don’t want to go over old ground…

In my experience (PS3, all missions [normal[/3* challenges complete, and the resistance campaign on hard) the AI is fantastic at defence and mediocre at best on attack (this is after the first patch on PS3). That’s why I chose the resistance for my first hard attempt as they are predominantly defence missions (which seems odd as I would have thought the resistance would attack establishment targets and security would defend - but that’s a discussion for another thread).

As people have said, the AI gets too distracted by sub-objectives and doesn’t seem to put the appropriate emphasis on the primary. This is especially annoying on hack and data carry missions because it is so easy for the enemy to undo all your work. I don’t have a problem with the AI’s willingness to do the objective or let me do it. I have equal success/frustration whether I am the correct class for the objective or not.

I think the problem is that the AI is trying to be too clever by adapting to secondary objectives and sub-goals.

In my opinion, the solution to this problem is for the AI to behave the same whether on attack or defence - follow the simple baheviour of swarming the objective at the top of the wheel with a healthy balance of classes and camping it (i.e. turrets/mines).

Leave the secondary objectives up to the players to go for, be they opening shortcuts or taking command posts or whatever. This might also serve to make defence missions a challenge as well, because as it stands there is a huge disparity between attack and defence missions. Defence is easy to the point that I won a hard mission the other night by letting my 3 year old daughter unload the LMG into a wall in spawn for the entire match, while attack missions are sometimes only passable 1/5, 1/10 or 1/20 times.

Other than that - loving it. Hoping the PS3 commnuity picks up… Looking forward to DLC too :penguin:

I’d say the bots are like them really tough retarded kids, who because of them retardation they have in-human strength and reactions, you know like the rain main?

(echocrack) #10

You’re too dumb, how bout that?

(CrashnBurn86) #11

No offense but if your scoring 2500 and bots are beating you, did you ever think your just not that good? I’ve never seen a bot beat my score I average 7500 exp and when I play vrs online and were against bots it’s a joke, they suck. Maybe this is just my experience but someone let me know if this happens for them also.

(LyndonL) #12

Wow. Just wow.

Looks like it totally wasted my suggestion on this thread… :frowning:

The bots hang out in quiet rooms and pass out buffs, you should see them scramble when you walk in on them, this is especially on SP, they blow my mind.
On Aquarium attacking in single they would all convoy to the final objective without the package, massively disperse when I took the package, maybe go another route across just to spite me, and they ignore firefights to get that precious revive in, even if 4 of them die in the process. 2 Bots had 5k+ to my 6 odd, but they were just in a corner, buffing each other as much as possible.
And they need to leave those command posts alone once in a while.
