I played Brink

(Hyperplutonium) #1

Hey Guys and Gal’s of the Splash Damage Forums, loooong time lurker.

So yesterday (Saturday 2nd October) I went to the amazing Eurogamer Expo in London and I queued for 2 hours to play BRINK but I managed to play it again later on in the day so I got the chance to play as both sides. It was the Container City mission it could of lasted the whole 40-50 mins if the Security had a good team and managed to do the last objective, as the Security I managed to do the whole mission and we won (Me and my two friends got signed t-shirts from no other than Paul Wedgwood :D) when I went back and played as the Resistance the match lasted 10 mins because the Security didn’t get the first objective done.

The classes all have something to bring to the fray. I rotated between the Op and the Enger when I was playing as the Security and when I was defending as the Resistance I used the medic and was a team player.

S.M.A.R.T is really helpful even though (I think) it was the medium body type we was using we couldn’t do the really cool stuff.

This game is balance perfect, their is no gun that out shoots any other.

That is all I got time to write up now but if you guys want more information or have any questions feel free to post them up here and I will answer them to the best of my ability.

Many thanks
Hyperplutonium

Thanks for the write up.

As for more info - info on the actual game itself would be nice.

You said you played operative and engineer, did you have access to any cool abilities or items with those classes that haven’t been spoken about already?

Well as the OP one of my mission was to disguise myself what was easy enough to do go up to the dead corpse and hold down X (xbox controller), one of my other missions was to hack a enemy command post witch was done with the X button again.

As the engineer my main mission was to keep the Droid thing up and running so most of my time was spent with that, but I did go out of my way to put up a firewall on our command post so it takes longer for the other team to hack.

All the abilities have been talked about so nothing new. The turret is awesome along with the mines that could be placed at choke points.

Hope that helped

Hyperplutonium thanks for jumping in the forum and telling us all your experience.

When you knew you were fighting an enemy with full health, did you feel he was some sort of bullet sponge when you finally killed him by unloading all your bullets?

Because the FPS veterans don’t like to run out empty when facing 2 enemies simultaneously.

Did you see the Super Meat Boy booth?

Thanks for the write up Hyperplutonium, how did you find the speed of the game?

(Hyperplutonium) #6

Lets just say Brigand that it takes a helluva lot of bullets to kill someone maybe 30 or so? and there was a Super Meat boy booth???

Jammy the speed was good, 10 mins seemed like half hour and the spawn time is 20 seconds if you just missed out on the last wave.

Thanks for the info.

i haven’t ever heard, seen, or read anyone say a bad thing about brink. this just makes me happier

This doesn’t sound good to me: ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ right?

(potkettleblack) #10

When the game is intense - i would imagine the match would feel longer than what it is.

(tokamak) #11

Time perception of an eventful period of time is experienced as shorter yet memorised as longer. So it’s good.

Do want

I’m more concerned about:

(Joe999) #14

pics/vids or it didn’t happen

(Nikto) #15

i doubt it takes that much, as has been said, one bullet shows an animation that should launch 3bullets.
that probably made you miscount the amount of bullets needed.

seriously, in every vid you can see it’s more like 5-15

ofcourse, it could be due to you not aiming well at all…

(DarkangelUK) #16

I wouldn’t be worried about that, it’s not true…

(Nail) #17

yeah, seemed to me 2 or 3 bursts did just fine

Reading more & more through these forums, I’m definitely sensing an immensely positive vibe about this game.

Thanks for taking your time to write.

Thanks for the impressions!

Regarding the damage, I should be clear that we definitely take more bullets to take down an enemy than in CoD, for instance. This is to encourage team play, and to allow a slightly bigger window for SMART ninjas to be evasive. There are a lot of other factors though, such as weapon damage buffs and health buffs, along with a couple of other things we haven’t mentioned yet.
