I need to increase my fps, my map is twice as big as beach

I’m real close to releasing this map and it should be fun, but my fps is very low. I would like to learn how to use detail, hint, skip, portal brushes to help with this problem.
Would some one like SOCK please help me?
It’s a big outdoor map and a lot of terrain is seen at once from almost any where in the map. I’ll open-up the oven and show some screen shots of my hot map before it’s done if you answer this post.
Thanks… :chef:

If you are looking for a quick fix to your FPS issues, there is none. I recommend either: deleting brushwork, creating area’s with less detail or fog like in railgun. This is the same problem I had with fueldump and it is always painful to cut detail but FPS is king.

You could thou re-think your terrain, use larger triangle tiles, trim it down, cut it half with a mountain range. Create realistic zones which have natural boundaries and distract the player from the zone seams. (like in oasis, the entrance/exit to the old city) Use big bold brush strokes for structures, keep small details to the inside of buildings, use “detail” brushes for portal reasons.

This is a good point… a point which I think some mappers tend to overlook.
