i need to decompile my map.command line?????

okay ive done much searching and found out what to type to decompile

q3map2.exe -convert -format map -game et -v -fs_basepath “C:/path/to/et_folder/” “C:/path/to/et_folder/etmain/maps/somemap.bsp”

but i dont even know where to type it!!!all the instructions assume i would know this but i dont :weird: so can someone give me insructions for dummasses on how to decompile and use “switches” i think theyre called.duh. help!

q3map2.exe is in the same dir that GTKRadiant is in. For me that’s: C:\Program Files\GtkRadiant-1.4

All you had to do to find it was hit: WinKey (flag on your keyboard) + F and type q3map2…

I konw where q3map2 is i just dont know how to execute a command line to decompile.

Open a dosprompt:

start > run > command if you got windows 98
start > run> cmd if you got win2k/xp

And then go to the dir where you put q3map2

Thanks joop sloop! It worked!!! I can now fix my crappy map yay! and thanks to ydnar for the decompile option SAVED MY MAP!!! Note to everyone:BACKUP YOUR WORK!!!

am I right in thinking it`s possible to have a line in a compile .bat file that also copies our maps before they are compiled? …iow backup and compile from the same batch file.
