I need some feedback for a problem.

I have always used the mouse wheel for weapon change. suddenly after summer squash I got a bug that when I scrolled down, I switched to primary weapon but then a fracture of a second later to secondary. Mind I had bound toggle prev/next to mouse wheel. I could fix this by binding primary weapon to mouse down and secondary to mouse up. This has worked for weeks and now suddenly the bug is back.

I would like to ask you. Could you just bind primary to wheel down and secondary to wheel up and scroll really fast/strong/hard down and see if you get the weapon you wanted. You have to do this from holding your melee. If you already holding primary/secondary everything is fine.

I would like to know, if there are others who have this problem, because it is driving me nuts. especially after I thought, I found a workaround.

tried a different mouse ?

Yes, this problem sucks. I’ve found the mouse has nothing to do with it. It’s just a really irritating bug. I’m so used to using my mouse wheel to switch weapons that I can’t go to using the keypad. I guess the devs don’t notice a lot of these bugs that have been in the game and have been reported a lot. There’s some little ones like this that can lose the game for you.

I have key binds on my mouse for primary secondary mele and defibs/ammo. I find it easier as i always switcjed to wrong weapons

Tell me, what pings do yo get from the server you connect to?

D9D has suspected that there are latency issues related to the problems that is just at the surface of it.

There are problems that cropped up as well ever since SSIII, which changed client side controls to server side switching so latency will be a big factor. Some latency compensation routines cannot be applied to abilities because it might throw off animation (like the Remburg’s infinite reload, muzzle flash of SMGs even when not firing, etc).

To test this, play Thunder and see if you can “cook” your flashbang while running. If you suddenly release the flashbang then have found a client/server command mismatch.

It’s difficult to show what exactly happens in this forum due to missing PHP code scripts but D9 claims the associated command on the mouse release event isn’t tied properly on both client and server side.

EDIT: Some servers are fast enough to catch the transition, and thus the test works. So you’ll have to really pay attention to your latency when you observe these things.

Tested today, it does not double switch when I bind primary to mouse up and sec to mouse down. But annoying double switch happens if I bind it to toggle or to default switching. Same thing happens with my other mouse as well.

I thought it was just me scrolling down too fast. At least this can be fixed by using the keyboard instead. But still cannot get rid of the gun switching itself to secondary while shooting a primary weapon in mid fight.

Sometimes when I scroll, my scroll wheel ends in this awkward half scroll position that can make the computer think I did another scroll in a certain direction, so I could scroll down to switch weapons, it ends in that awkward position, and then my weapons swap again because the scroll wheel moved a little bit and triggered the scrolling input. Idk if this is a problem with your mouse, but this is my experience and why I never use the mouse wheel and why I always just use the number keys for weapon switching.

I’ve used scroll up for secondary weapon and scroll down for primary weapon for many years in any shooter I play. I just find it more accurate, especially with some mice wheels being weird.

DB should not have an issue with doing this, as that’s still my current setup.

I have a locking kinda scroll so I don’t have to deal with the awkward position @KUST__LunarTM mentioned.
