Yeah voice commands and maybe more visible indicator over your head like in TF2 when you are asking for med/ammo. But imo automatic chatter works well. Its just that average player’s attention span is not high enough to listen that chatter and then look around to check ammo indicators. Too many times I have to visit command post to refill ammo when there are soldiers on team.
I need ammo! Medic! Gernade!
I can certainly hear my own gun clicking when it’s out of ammo, but I’m unsure if others can hear it.
Vsays would definitely be useful, and welcomed by most players I think. They were even effective when playing ET:QW with a full bot team - and the bot coming to your aid would usually reply with “I’m on my way”
When playing Brink with bots last night, I emptied both guns clearing two waves of enemies. An auto-call went out just as I was running out of ammo (or just about to), but once it had depleted I made no further requests. I hoped that continued use of the trigger while empty might kick in another voice request, but it didn’t - and since the soldiers were off somewhere doing god knows what (killing a lone enemy away from the objective area, actually) I didn’t get my re-supply. I was carrying the item and my support consisted of an engineer and a medic - so the medic was keeping me alive, maybe because he was hypnotised by the clicking of my gun
Anyway, if I could have dragged those soldiers away by means of a vsay, I probably wouldn’t have died on the third wave of enemies, and clearing the first two might have been worthwhile. Rinsing and repeating due to lack of communications isn’t fun
The more disruptive grenades like Flashbang would benefit from an automatic warning - at least on servers with FF enabled.
There is a solution for this and that is: Everybody hop on voip.
The only thing is, do you clearly see who is talking on voip, in chat or
ingame? No idea because no one uses voip.
And yes, the automatic chatter isn’t that bad, it gets my attention for sure.
Sometimes it’s hard because my sound is messed up and that’s why I don’t even know things like:
Does resistance have different “deathsounds” then security?
I would like to know because I play with my ears
Vocalize commands are automated and would be spammed and used for trolling if allowed manually.
The game automatically calls for ammo, medics, etc. When you’re below a certain level of ammo, Soldiers will all hear your character say “Getting low on ammo!” and there’s a “Need ammo!” shout when you fully empty a gun. When you’re incapacitated, the Medics all hear “MEDIC!”
It calls for what’s needed from the people it’s needed from - you don’t have to do anything to tell players what to do - you just need teammates who listen to the autochatter - it ONLY tells you what you need to hear to do your job right
Would be nice to call for a medic buff BEFORE you are incapacitated wouldn’t it?
I rly don’t understand WHY they removed the vsays.
Owyea, consoles don’t have enough buttons
Nonsense, there is a cooldown period on how many voice commands one can issue in a period of time and their previous games had vsays and I don’t remember any excesive spamming in etqw nor w:et
I heard it occasionally in ET:QW, but certainly not enough to annoy me - and nowhere near enough to make the feature pointless. If nothing else, you could limit the random stuff severely (Mortifying), and place only loose restrictions on the important ones (I need Ammo).
The other thing about the auto-voice commands is they are class specific. I know that cuts down on the clutter of sounds, but it’s nice to know when I’m an engineer and I’m with a medic or operative if they are out of ammo, That way I won’t be running in expecting back up only to find them hanging back waiting for ammo or hoping I’d run back with them to a command post.
While I do like the automatic vsays and have no problem with them. I would really like to have the option to use them like we did on ET and ET:QW.
The inability to use them makes team communication harder and for me takes a lot of the immersion of the game out of the picture, it also made the game feel more alive.
Can we plz have them back?
Perhaps they could be implemented in such a way that, like some others noted, there would be a cooldown period so you couldn’t spam vsays non-stop - and if you tried to, you would be kicked. And perhaps they could also be implemented in such a way that a player can disable the sound and/or text of manual vsays if he wanted to. I could be wrong, but I think this is how vsays were implemented in ET.
agree. they MUST return !!!
they re not only extremely helpful but add immersion as well
FOR THE MAKRON! :stroggbanana: :oppressor: :stroggbanana:
Kill the human food! :infiltrator:
Sorry, useless post but fancied a bit of nostalgia
It certainly couldn’t hurt to add voice commands as long as they weren’t spam-able. It would especially be nice if they worked as a method to command friendly bots. Otherwise, people need to get some mics and form fireteams for crying out loud.
It’s only heard client-side? Well that sucks. Eh, either way… they should see my ammo meter completely shaded in while I’m circling them.
I think what is needed is when your automated voice alerts your teammates, a mark indicating your position should pop on their screen so they can follow it. and this is without choosing your mission as replenish/revive your teammates… I don’t remember if it pops up or not.
but yeah this is just an opinion and do understand if my grammer is wrong because im not native speaker
