I know making this thread is do(d)gy but..

I got into the Overwatch Beta and I gotta say. Presentation in that game is shit tier. Especially how everything is super bright colorful and clashing. Very confusing presentation.
I just want to say good job devs. Your presentation is really on top. I never had the feeling while playing this game that something happened but I didn’t see what it was, while I have that feeling the entire time in Overwatch. Feels like I’m drowning and barely able to hold on, playing a match in that game.
My compliments to the design team (and to the users, don’t be so quick to hype Overwatch. They are very different games. Very different.)
I’ll be playing more Dirty Bomb.

Woof woof! Doggy!

Ok but in all seriousness, you are correct. I think it’ll be a fun casual game but Overwatch nowhere near the polish of DB’s gameplay

(Ctrix) #3

On the opposite. Playing Overwatch felt very similar to me to playing League 1.0, about the level of stuff that is happening constantly everywhere. Definitely not a casual game at all. It’s actually too hard to pick up. And I blame their bad presentation for that. Thus this thread. Dirty Bombs presentation is on top.

(immenseWalnut) #4

So this is just an ass-kissing thread? Wooo, bully for you, have a cookie.

(Ctrix) #5

I don’t think that word means what you think it means, friend.

(Drcipres) #6

It is just like a tf2, but without the thing that makes special tf2 ahem volvo ahem

(Izzy) #7

Finally! There were (and still is) so much hype about this game, and I find it so messy, unpleasant to watch. I am not even sure I would have played it for free. But well, there is the Blizzard logo on it, so it must be good…

(CC_FANG) #8

Yeah, this is kind of borderline. I debated closing the topic but as long as the focus of discussion actually remains to be DirtyBomb I think we can keep it open. This is good feedback and I am sure the DB team will appreciate that.

(watsyurdeal) #9

I’m not surprised, I don’t think Overwatch will detract from Dirty Bomb’s playerbase, and I don’t think it will catch on as much as people think it will. Just because it’s Blizzard doesn’t guarantee it’ll be a good shooter.

My problem is with the ability spam, I mean, if you thought Fletcher was bad at times…you ain’t see nothing.

Which one, ass-kissing, or cookie? While I have never kissed an ass, I have eaten my fair share of cookies :expressionless:

(immenseWalnut) #12

Ah, they made you a moderator? How interesting.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any negative feedback, any at all, about Dirty Bomb? And will you ban me for challenging you?

EDIT: Actually, my bad on this one, I thought you were someone else, someone I had a bit of an argument with. But it wasn’t you, sorry about that, ignore my question.

(CCP115) #13

TF2 has best Visual Communication in any game I have ever played ever.

Dirty Bomb does a good job, but some of the maps have a lighting effect which is painful, i.e. Train has a constant red glow, and Chapel has a constant blue glow.

Overwatch looks incredibly messy, but it’ll be easy to fix, so I don’t know how long Blizzard will leave that there.

(DadoPeja) #14

I heard overwatch is gonna be pay to play not f2p anymore, so idk i personaly don’t even like the look of the game and if its p2p well i can say bb overwatch alredy

(Nail) #15

it’s a $59 pre purchase, you get a free skin

(Ctrix) #16

Yeah, Overwatch will be 40 on PC and 60 on Consoles.

While I do have lots of negative feedback about Dirty Bomb, and I’ll tell you all about it in the various threads, I feel like it’s the superior game as far as I am considered. The shooting in Overwatch isn’t satisfying, and it’s not meant to be satisfying. It’s very TF2 in that regard, with a mix of Unreal Tournament.
I prefer my shooters straight, on the rocks if you will.

Dammed, I reached this level of sarcasm again… I should bring back the sarcasm sign again. Sorry for misleading you.

After having watched a dozen Overwatch Videos (don’t have a Beta entry myself ) I feel like that game is less about shooting and more about the abilities and the ‘Mobaness’. The role system is also a bit strict and medics look super boring to play (especially Mercy).
I don’t think it will snatch away players from DB that much, I believe it can actually benefit DB when people find out how much fun Team Shooters can be but don’t want Overwatch.

About the Color scheme, it looks Blizzardy (at least from a viewpoint of stuff they released after SC2), kind of serious but with a special charm.

The p2p kinda killed that game for me too, I hate the unlocking system in Dirty Bomb, but if I don’t get to try out a game first I have a hard time paying upfront without knowing what I’m getting into. Unless I know it’s going to be great like the new Deus Ex.

I’ve had access to OW since it started and I simply do not like it. Aesthetically it’s neat to look at, the characters and animation is super charismatic, it already has a ton of polish despite clearly being a beta and you can definitely see that there are some talented people behind the creation of the game.

However, the game isn’t a very good FPS game IMO. It’s all about the abilities. Many of which are quite spammy and aim isn’t as important. This might appeal to a lot of people as it will be easier to step into. Great players in other games will still be great players in Overwatch but it’s just not a deep shooter. The depth comes from all of the characters you can switch to on the fly and react to situations with quick counters intelligently. I do like that aspect quite a bit as it does require quick thinking and an adaptive playstyle. But in regards to being a raw FPS I very much prefer DB and I now rarely play OW. I should give it another shot and try to really learn the mechanics better but it just feels like it’s aimed at players who enjoy TF2 and/or MOBA’s. And I enjoy neither of those. Also the movement system is a mixed bag with default movement on most characters being super slow and incredibly basic and reliant on, yet again, abilities.

I’ll probably give it another solid chance soon as they’ve added some more content and I like giving things a fair shake before I dismiss them. I dismissed DB after first playing it for only 1.5 hours. Mostly due to servers being half filled with suicide naders back when grenades were crazy and martyrdom was instant. Now look where I am at. Plus, Overwatch really really is super charming and welcoming in it’s design. But it just hasn’t connected with me so far compared to other shooters I’ve played in the past.

The fact that it’s not going to be F2P I think hurts it. I also have a feeling they are going to get people to buy it only to convert it later to a F2P model.

You can no longer compare the two. Overwatch is now a one off purchase ($40). DB is ther better value for money and with Blizzard you know they will put everything behind pay walls. DB is safe.
