my question is can you shoot when you are “downed” waiting on a medic or till you spawn as reinforcements, or is it when you get knocked down like from a nade that didnt kill you, slide or melee can you shoot while “Knocked Down”?
i have a question about the downed fire.
I’ve not seen any videos that show you can. It doesn’t seem like the “Last Chance” perk in CoD, thankfully.
You are in a incapacitated state, which allows medics to throw you syringes.
The balancer for it, is when you are in this state, you have less “gib health” than someone who doesnt have downed fire. So its easier for players stop you from being revived, and as a result medics are less likely to go out of their way to throw you a syringe.
yeah… i now that i think about the uselessness of last stand, and then i think about the balanced weapons in this game… its gunna be hard without dying in a couple seconds to kill someone. i think il take my chances with getting revived and having more health. thanx for the info humate! Fist Bumps
You can fire your weapon in both cases, but the Downed Fire ability refers to when you are incapacitated. Even without choosing the ability, you can still fire when knocked down.
The Downed Fire ability seems a lot more practical for the two heavier body types. Since you are using your secondary weapon, a Heavy could still be shooting an AR while incapacitated. Plus, I assume they get more downed HP with a bigger bodytype (but that could be wrong).
Oh sorry I misunderstood. In interviews the devs have stated that you are able to fire when downed by a grenade for instance, but less accurately.
Doesn’t look like you can shoot though (at least from 1:10 of this video - http://www.newbiesinc.com/2010/10/05/more-brink-container-gameplay-footage/ ).

That’s probably because the guy didn’t have the Downed Fire ability (Universal Rank 5)

I was under the impression if you’re “knocked down” you can either lie there and fire with no accuracy penalty but you’re an immobile target (death sentence on the pc) and you risk them meleeing your on the ground for an instant kill or you can get up and suffer an accuracy penalty while standing.
This.
Knocked down and incapacitated are different.
When you’re hit by an explosion, or a melee hit, and still have health, but fall over, you don’t need an ability to be able to shoot, but you pretty much have to choose between shooting or getting up - high penalty to accuracy when you shoot while getting off the ground.
If you lose your base health, you reset back to MORE than your normal health while incapacitated. Downed fire reduces the health, but lets you fire your secondary weapon while you wait for a revive.
Also, you don’t have to respawn with the next wave - you can choose to wait for a medic, unless you get finished off while you’re incapacitated.
i think the only bad thing about downed fire could be the fact that people can have shotguns and AR’s for secondaries. is the auto nade aluncher a secondary?
(I hope)
