I figured out how all 4 recon mercs can spot.

We know how Redeye and Vasili can spot.

People want a spotting ability for phantom.

I made a thread a while ago as to how Aimee can spot.

There are 3 questions of spotting.

What does it spot? Players or Deployables?
How does it spot? Via an Area of Effect or by looking?
From who or what does it spot from? From an object or the player itself?

Let’s look at Vasili and answer the 3 questions.

Vasili spots players.
Vasili spots via an area of effect.
Vasili spots from a thrown object.

Taking these 3 responses, there should be one of each of the other 3 recon mercs that is true to at least one of the questions that is true to Vasili.

Who else can spot players? Redeye
Who else can spot via an area of effect? Phantom, hopefully.
Who else can spot from a thrown object? Aimee, hopefully.

Only 2 recon mercs is allowed to answer each of the questions with one type of answer, while the other 2 mercs take the other response.

Let’s take Redeye

Redeye can spot players
Redeye spots by looking
Redeye spots from himself

Who else spots players? Vasili
Who else spots by looking? Aimee
Who else spots from himself? Phantom

Let’s look at the final 2 mercs:

Phantom spots deployables, so does Aimee
Phantom spots from an area of effect, so does Vasili
Phantom spots from himself, so does Redeye

Aimee spots deployables, so does Phantom
Aimee spots by looking, so does Redeye
Aimee spots from a thrown object, so does Vasili

Aimee spots deployables by throwing a third eye cam, looking through the third eye cam, and having the crosshairs from the third eye cam on the deployable.

Phantom spots deployables by activating his cloak, and whatever deployable he stands near, in an area of effect, the deployable is spotted.

Personally, I don’t feel like any sort of spotting ability would be good enough for Phantom.

Really, I feel like a Decoy device of some sort would be the best thing for him to have for 2 reasons

  1. You can use it throw off enemies by making them think your team is pushing in one direction, when they are actually going in another.
  2. You can use it to lure in enemies by baiting them, they come looking to get a kill, and you pop out of the shadows to take them down.

These are simple, but these really do mean a LOT for Phantom if used correctly. Phantom becomes the anti intel class, not only can he make himself invisible but he can misguide enemies and use it to his and his team’s advantage.

Vasilli and Aimee are fine the way they work/are supposed to work (vasilli’s poke-ball could benefit from a duration decrease however, being able to PERMANENTLY keep its utility up is a bit meh).

Redeye seems very cheaty, shouldn’t really spot anyone but the target he’s shooting at, or at the very least aiming at. For a period of time much shorter than what it is right now. Same can be applied to Phantom really, or… for the hell of simpleness give them a button(ability) to actively spot with. It’s simple, efficient and not nearly as painfully annoying as it is right now.

Maybe spotting duration should be proportional to the time spent spotting. 4 sec is too much when just getting a random glance at somebody.

I’d love to see all the sniper(except Vassili as he has the sensor, and no phantom as he has no snipers) to ‘tag’ a target they hit. So if you hit someone with Redeye/Aimee it tags them for a duration. Opposed to the spotting everything I see that f.e Redeye currently has.

sounds good, special bullets on limited cooldown; targets are marked until dead preferably : P could even be 1-2 max characters at a time.
