I don't understand Proxy

It’s my time and turn to rant, so let me.

Here is a class/merc who is one of the fastest, wields TWO SMGs coupled with a shotgun, has TWO mines and IS AN OPERATIVE SPECIALIST. I mean c’mon, speed and engineer…sometimes I feel it’s ridiculous. Two Proxys on any team that can play is sure shot win especially on maps like Terminal where they keep constantly switching A and B.

Think Fletcher and Bushwhacker, now they are balanced in terms of speed and hence good engineers. But Proxy is just… I don’t know. I just don’t understand why she has speed in movement and in objectives. And maybe even two mines are a bit much.

All that is offset by her low health and ability not being guaranteed damage imo.

There’s a reason why Proxy is not that much played in competitive. Her low hp pool is the first one (a lot of things can one shot you). And the lack of flexibility of her mines is the second. Let’s add to this that mines are countered by awareness, and the shotgun can’t hit poo past close range, and the machine pistol is not as damageful as the other SMG pimaries. SMG Proxy feels like the way to go, but the Hochfir SMG, while somewhat good, lacks a bit of brute force.

I dislike that leaving a proxy on defence alive for 5 seconds can end your 95% completed C4.

Somebody mentioned a while ago the idea of splitting up “Defusal and disarm” objective specialist and “Construct and Deconstruct” object specialist.
So proxies could be great at repairing vehicles, planting C4, running about like insane children, but they can’t then disarm somebody else’s C4 instantly.

But seriously, 90 health…if your aim is even half decent on landing headshots she shouldn’t be that big of an issue.

Yeah, fastest speed in game + objective specialist can be pretty annoying. You just have to be extra vigilant on defense when there’s a proxy on the enemy team. If you can kill her as she sprints by your team she won’t do much.

If your team sucks, a good proxy opponent will be annoying as s%^#.

Proxy needs to be fast, because of her low health. She is typically a hit and run character. Say Peekaboo and then lure someone into a mine. Speed set/defuse C4 and then run like hell.
Suicide repair EV. That’s what she does and she does it pretty well.

proxy is pretty good for suicide runs to break the enemy lines by diving into an entire pile of enemies and dropping a mine in the middle of em :smiley:

Yeah to be honest I think strengths/weaknesses are pretty balanced here. She’s super squishy.

Proxy mines are annoying as heck. Why? Well, it’s not because of the mines themselves. In reality, I almost never have a problem with spotting them, unless they are hidden under bodies. The problem is with that one idiot teammate that always barrels past you, stepping on a mine and blowing everyone up to bits.

Proxy is a hell of a fun. She is very balanced, a Combat Engie. Very agressive, i like that in girls. =)
Does she have a degree in engineering? Agressive, And smart ?? im taken away =)

I feel like I’m the only one that plays Proxy in comp.

I guess if you’ve got a solid team who can keep you alive, you can plant objectives and deal tons of damage without dying.

Teamwork solves all of the things!

The funny thing about this thread is Proxy is the only engineer that never sees any time in competitive play. You see Bushwacker on every team and Fletcher from time to time…but not Proxy. The reason? Mines aren’t nearly as useful as the turret when you play against people who know what they are doing. Mines can be strong in pubs but never in competition. Also, Proxy doesn’t have access to the Kek10 that Bushwacker has which is the best SMG (and sounds like it might be getting nerfed).

Also, sometimes you need an engineer to defuse while getting shot. So a medic is out of sight of being shot and instantly refuses the engineer and Proxy has a lot less HP than Bushwacker and Fletcher. That extra HP really matters in that situation (and probably the only time that one augment that gives you more HP per death is useful).
