I dont know why people dont or wont give this game a chance...

(Switched1) #1

I just started playing this game about 5 days ago, and I’m hooked. I’ve seen a lot of posts about people unhappy or major kinks the game has, but when it comes down to gameplay satisfaction its on point. I have never played an objective based game like this besides Killzone 3, and that turned me off to even give this game a try but I did and haven’t looked back since.

Anyway I’m new here plan on sticking around and I play on PS3 so if anyone else Is looking for another Brink pal my ID is Switched1.

Welcome to the forums, brother. Nice to have you round. Dang, you are on PS3. I am on Xbox. But there is a PS3 group on here you should link up with! Glad you like the game. Most of us on here are pretty happy with the game and excited for the DLC.

This game rocks my socks.

Thanks, and yeah I was big on CoD MW 1-2 and even black ops, but its boring even when you try to play different modes, it still turns out the same way, dull and repetitive. This game has me bouncing off walls running sliding, and shotting my way way to complete real objectives and the pace of the game can be turned around in a blink of an eye.

Oh yeah what kind of DLC is coming ???

I have many things to complain about, just for example that there is no 1. person view in spectator mode or that there is no demos recording possible. There is no lobby system. And so on. But i like the gameplay (mostly) anyway and so im still playing this game and hope the devs are working on it.

People are complaining, because Bethesda and SD said so much before release … they said this game is a milestone for the genre … it brings colour back to fps and so on…

for example things which were posted in magazines and so on:
Weapon/attachment combinations – 4963
Individual weapon sounds – 4,500
Unique Resistance Characters – 13,590,720
Unique Security Characters – 13,590,720

They told this game will be a esport game, which can be played competetive and public - but i played cs at esl, i played et and many other fps and brink is the first one which doesnt feel like a esport game. Damn it even doesnt feel like a finished game.

Then there were so many problems with brink … sound problems, lags, freezes - simple things like crosshair customization werent possible.

And did u have the feeling that there are 4963 Weapon/attachment combinations? I dont think so.

This is why many people are so disappointed about this game. And i dont even wanna start with the videos which they made before release … videos which they made on pc with high details but with buttons from the ps3/xbos 360 gamepad - so that everyone thought this would be the graphic on the console … and now we can see the graphic isnt even near to that graphic of the videos.

Im playing this game everyday on the 360 … and now a month after release it needs still 2-3 seconds to load easy textures.

I can understand everyone who is complaining about this game … because it seems unfinished.

oh yeh … and the synchronisation on german is sooooo awful … the voices are soooo bad.

I’m loving Brink despite some of the bugs I’ve encountered often (crouch bug/invisible players/etc). I haven’t enjoyed a team-based FPS for quite a while now. Used to play a lot of TFC and CS… Brink is now filling that void. Love me some clutch moments. Adrenaline +1.

I dont like CoD either and ive only played cod4 for more than a few hours online
but seriously…

This game has aspects in common with cod too.
Marty=cortex bomb
last stand
zoom in (which is not what early SD titles had except for snipers)
etc, etc.
and obviously they are both fps games lol.

Sure the game is most similar to W:ET (imo) but it took aspects from other games too.

I see your points, and that is worthy of the developers attention but none of which affect gameplay, and its the gameplay that has me hooked. I believe that with simple improvement through out this games life should satisfy everyone.

Honestly, I think most people can agree… jumping into BRINK is overwhelming.

So going from something as simple as COD/Bad Company 2 or something mainstream right now, and playing BRINK can make people not want to give it a chance, and the first 5 minutes people play a game are the most important because those are the first 5 minutes people will judge the game by.

And the critics, the main “people” I was referring to there, are those 5 minute gamers.

Brink is a word of mouth game. Behind the scenes, and in gamer circles, it quietly gains gamers each day who want to join the Battle For Ark as the trail of casual FPS gamers drift away back to the familiar title. Although, deep down they know that they won’t be able to parkour. There’s something lacking. No SMART. Just the same old pointless kill. Oh, they will lament what could of been. Maybe pine for their favorite FPS to add SMART, but the rest of us will just play Brink.

If you listen hard enough, you can hear it.
We are the Resistance.

Whuwhaahaha!

I have a friend I keep saying this to. He sold the 2 copies he had within like 2 weeks. He said it was too boring plus the problems with launch. But back then the lag was still going strong and there were few if any functional full 8v8s going on.

#2 Selling game in May.

Even heard about it on a morning radio show this mornin, and they never talk about Video Games.

Im having a blast on PC version. Just set filters to 4 or more players and get buck wild!

(Switched1) #17

I was the same way when I saw no lobby, I had no friends that played, and I had no idea what I was doing, and if you are coming from a game like CoD yeah It can be a bit awkward to a certain extent. But the way I see It is people like playing games like Zombies right? Same concept the bots are cool, tough but fair, and its better then it being mandatory for players to be in game in order to finish an objective. But a game with some online friends like 4v4 is pretty sweet all in all I think If FPS lovers gave this game an honest chance they would come around.

(haccess) #18

People keep saying that it’s not for the Call of Duty crowd, as if that is Brink’s problem. I never got into CoD but spent a lot of time in Team Fortress/Tribes/Weapons Factory/Enemy Territory. I like the game but I’ve found it lacking in a lot of areas – crucial and basic design problems – as if the bugs, weapon/body/map balance issues and performance issues weren’t enough.

Mouse sensitivity/smoothing changes when you ironsight with no way to adjust or turn that stuff off, no voice communication going on because of the default settings, oversized and obstructive HUD elements that can’t be scaled down, no demo recording or first-person spectating, and just basic normal things that you would expect to have in a new team-based game on the PC aren’t there. It could have been a great game but it just wasn’t done.
