I don't know what is worse...

(PixelTwitch) #1

1, Having a single sniper rifle in the game that single shots a single Merc…
2, Designing each objective point to C4, Repair or Carry…
3, Allowing Mercs to use weapons from different weapon classes…
4, Removing the EV move speed being influenced by number of players…
5, Not only believing but wanting to balance machine pistols with pistols…
6, Having throwables leave the player model before the animation complete…
7, Not having friendly collision to prevent players walking though (wait till FF is on)…
8, Having collision only on enemy deployables (Stoker = Turtle 2.0)…
9, Launching into pay-in closed beta with no casual matchmaking (when you know how hard the game is)
10, The sound design…
11, The graphic design… (Well I say design when I mean in game quality)
12, Still limiting movement speed after a long jump regardless of airtime or height gained/lossed…
13, The collision brushing on all maps…
14, Having ADAD spam as the primary mechanic…
15, The recoil/spread modifiers…
16, Bad augments (Throwing knifes anyone?)…
17, Kill box objective locations…
18, Time spent in lobbies, loading and watching nothingness…
19, The mirrored respawn system…
20, Thinking that CS:GO styled Search and Destroy will make all these things better…
21, The MG Nests (Everything about them)…
22, The map design (Almost everything about them)…
23, Coherent UI (Nuff said)…
24, The current customisation and monetisation system…
25, The way the “netcode” handles movement…
26, The inconstancy between weapons using iron sights…
27, The one ability per Merc…
28, The 3 Merc rule…
29, The performance…
30, The future…
31, ECHO!!!

Yes I am raging…
Q_Q
Cry me a river…
Mad cause Bad…
bla bla bla…

However, I would like to see these answered hopefully.

How could you possibly forget aura and fragger. Also, all bow before echo overlord.

I’m raging to … about the same things
especially about the collision (ON or OFF but not in between please !), the maps (absolutely boring to death) and some weird choices (aka random card system) …

I’m still choosing to play this over any other game at the moment - probably says more about my taste in games.

I’m hopeful that a lot of these elements will be improved - for me that would be in order of priority;

  1. Maps (which includes side objectives, forward/selectable spawns, removing the whole ‘serial’ objective approach).
  2. Casual Matchmaking for Objective / SW (FF off etc)
  3. More use of MM for Comp (inc. FF On by default).
  4. The monetisation system

The FF On should reduce so much spam - also allow me to shoot through teamates that insist on strafing in front of me while I’m shooting :stuck_out_tongue:

Take a day off Pixel

Good that you have faith in improving maps. Ask Bomba since when he (and most of the others) asks for improved maps? It must be more than 2 years

I think maybe there’s a bit of exaggeration going on here, or at least a little melodrama! Maybe I’d understand if I had played this game for a long time.

As a far less experienced player, perhaps what you might consider the average player, I have only encountered a few of these things as irritations:

  • Being killed AND gibbed by a single sniper bullet
  • Time spent in lobbies (also the inexplicable 15s wait when joining an in-progress game - why!?)
  • Many aspects of the loadout system, as much discussed, so I won’t add anything
  • Strange lag leaving me staring at a wall or just dead
  • Not being able to choose your merc when joining a game
  • Not having any real way to practise (without the pressure to perform!)

Honestly, nothing else you mention I have even noticed or bothers me in the slightest as yet. Therefore I personally think the above should be priorities.

Maps is realy big issue, if SD can’t make good maps, why not allow this to community? Maybe some mappers contests or something like that can resolve this problem.

Welcome to Beta<3

(DarkangelUK) #9

A few of us have been in the beta for a few years…

(PixelTwitch) #10

There are few reasons why some of us feel this way…
Mainly that we have been exposed to these problems much longer and have seen things that many of us considered perfect, changed… Now, there are many videos and stuff hanging around these forums from very early closed beta (a year ago) and alpha (over 2 years ago). If you spend some time and watch them you can see for yourself how much the game has been simplified to the point it is now. Sure, some things have gotten a LOT better but other things have gotten a LOT worse. Actually, I urge you to watch some of the preview videos and interviews from PAX EAST 2013 and give me your thoughts on if the game we have now matches up to the things that was teased back then.

The reason for all the waiting in lobbies and stuff is down to the way they handle loadouts and how bad unreal engine 3 can be when it comes to performance and memory. Not really the fault of SD however it is fixable if enough people kick up a fuss so that its seen as a priority. The lack of practice ability is simply not excusable though, Simply being able to load up the maps or have a more interactive training mode even if it is just shooting gallery style would have been a very welcome addition. I would still like to offer a week of my time to SD to help them develop a movement map, free of charge because a lot of the players out there are really struggling. Back in the days, we had empty servers most of the time to practice on and a very close nit community so getting the low down was much easier.

I am also suffering the same lag and it only started when they released this phase of the beta. Strange indeed.

Yes, lot of what I said is in rage but its also what I honestly believe is true.

Faith is too strong a word - hope is still what i would use. As an aside, I’ve been in since Alpha so probably about the same amount of time as Bomba

(Glottis-3D) #12

very good thread.

(INF3RN0) #13

I’m not a fan of the back and forth balancing and no new ground taken. No attempts to try new mechanics to solve problems or new mechanics in general, and public echo data is not always an accurate reflection of game balance. As bad as the nexon forums are, at least there’s ideas floating around that I can agree with that offer more than a small value tweak that won’t actually fix the problem :frowning:

(PixelTwitch) #14

The problem is they are working soo hard to “balance” the game via numbers rather then as a whole…
Generic feel is generic

(AssortedStuff) #15

Yes, a bit of raging but a lot of valid points also. It is an understandable frustration to be with a game for quite some time and see some glaring faults not being addressed, especially when users have been calling attention to them for so long.

I’ve read somewhere that this wait is for other players to have time to load the mercs you chose (3D models + textures)

(BomBaKlaK) #16

My last word on this thread :

Maps !!!

& Collision …

(prophett) #17

Aura is far worse than fragger. Most OP ability in the game. Hopefully the trolls at SD will haul their head out of their ass and give it a decent nerf (if echo tells them to).

I guess to depend and trust on echo only is a big failure, because thats a equation with to many unknowns. All players have an individual skill level and playing style. The kind to play a map changes with the experience. How to calculate that?

(ailmanki) #19

SD uses echo to validate assumptions, like “aura is op”, if echo doesn’t show that, it can’t be true.
Well maybe its time for us testers to exploit the flaws, so that echo will show them…
E.g excellent snipers, go snipe. Excellent campers go use aura/fragger, and annoy the **** out of the enemy. And for people with bad Internet connection, play proxy and beat some players to death.

Overall I am about as frustrated as pixel, altough I haven’t played that much, no surprises… worst for me is maps and balance. Beside the color grading which I still don’t understand, and lod bias which is not punishes.

(ToonBE) #20

This. The more people escorting the faster the EV needs to go.
