I dont have Brink yet but...

Hello everybody. I do not have Brink yet although I might get it in a few weeks. I was reading a lot of reviews and saw they were very mixed. I read some Gamestop reviews and they range from “this game is horrible” to “this game is awesome”.

Currently I am on the fence for this game. I know that this is an objective type game and that it is best to have a group to play with but none of my friends like objective games.
I also heard that this game lags very much and there are a lot of glitches and bugs, but those will probably be fixed when I might get it.

So… should I get Brink or not, and is it really worth it the $60?

I personally really, really like the game. Most of the people complaining are fraggers (nothing wrong with being that, they just bought the wrong game), or game reviewers. Simply put, don’t watch or read the reviews. Especially the G4 one with that Morgan Webb… Perso… What the hell is she anyway? I think she’s missing at least half a brain.

Oh well. Anyway, personally I think it’s a very fun game. There are indeed plenty of laggy servers, but look for the ones with low pings and you’re sure to find a good server.

But hey, if you have the patience, I’d wait until they release the next patch and in the meantime look for other places where you can buy the game. $60 Is a bit on the expensive side for games in general. At least get it for $50, if not cheaper. I wouldn’t pay $60 for any game.

… Or is that for the console version? I’m sorry, I’m not up to date about the console prices!

Personally i think yes.
its a fast moving game, its alot different to the traditional shooters eg COD, battlefront etc.
the character customization is awesome! its one of the best games i have EVER played!

but thats just my opinion :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah some of the review are a bit much. I was very disappointed in Xplay for slamming this game hard.

Yes it was a rough launch. But the core gameplay (especially when you get non laggy matches) is brillant and fun.

Brink is a few patches away from being very epic.

I am in the same boat as the OP and am very encouraged by your views. I have not heard alot about hit detection (unlike COD:BO) which is good.

The game has amazing potential.

The game feels unlike anything I’ve played, and all the innovative aspects work very well.

The core mechanic is solid and satisfying.

The menu screen and general production is very high-end.

If the kinks are ironed out soon, this game will be truly outstanding.

sounds like you need new friends

I too am having fun with this game. Love the character customization and how you can get XP by helping your team not just twitch shooting. For example an engineer can get xp by buffing guns, building turrets, etc. A soldier can provide ammo, medics buff heath and revive. The art style is also cool in my opinion.

Negatives…I’d say two things, AI is not very bright (by design)…If you’re playing with bots I’d recommend “hard” setting. Second, limited content (8 maps only…however, DLC is forthcoming.) This game is best played with other people who understand their jobs in-game.

Finally, the devs have been working hard to work out the kinks and have released a day 0 patch and a second patch already.

If spending those $60 means you can’t eat for a week or month, then no.
Personally, I really love the game enough to see through it’s flaws which will be sorted out
soon I hope (and believe)
I have terrible fps now, laggy games but… still have fun

Smart is great, customization is great, gameplay is fun, teamplay is fun and really encouraged.
It is much faster paced then I anticipated, with is terrific.
I had good, fun games on pubs, with strangers really looking out for eachother.
You don’t need real life friends to play with.
To me it was definitely worth it.

I would say yes, but think very carefully about it first. There are numerous things about Brink that will irritate you, but overall it is like no other shooter out there (that I have played at least). Alot of the bad reviews that I have seen seem to stem from people expecting too much from the game and missing all the good points.

I would suggest trying to find a way to play the game first (round a friends or something), but actually the game grows on you very well as well, so the first 5 minutes aren’t the best advertising. Eg. the guns: at first glance they all seemed the same to me. After a while I got the feel for the differences between them.

So yeah, go buy it, but maybe wait until you’re certain.

And by the way $60! It’s out there for £28 with two extra packs! I appriciate there’s an exchange rate, but still…
