I could really use the weapon balance patch

I really, really like Brink. Almost everything I ever wanted in a team FPS game, they did with this.

Or rather, that’s how it was.

The last week I’ve been bored with the central part of an FPS, the shooting. I’m not complaining about the general low accuracy, I actually like that.

I’m just so bored with the Carb. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the idea of a spray and pray weapon, I think that’s fine, but what isn’t fine is that every other gun feels gimped in comparison, and I’m just getting incredibly bored with playing with the same gun over and over (and playing with weak guns isn’t enjoyable either).

I would really, really like the weapon balance patch to be released. I don’t care if it isn’t perfect, it can just be changed later. But please, the Carb-9 monotony has become unbearable to the point I don’t care much for playing anymore.

I must admit, it is getting a little bit ridiculous to have more than 90% of deaths occur because of CARB-9s. Especially drum mag ones. The best games I’ve had with Brink are the ones where most of the server isn’t using them.

I run around with the Mossington a lot and even with a weapon that is the literal definition of CQB, I still know that unless I tip the odds in my favour I won’t beat the CARB-9 in close range. No other weapon in the game has the same statistically low survival rate as a hipfire CARB-9.

Nexo

i just want to be able to modify my crosshairs. i don’t think that a huge balancing is needed since ppl still figure stuff out, i.e. lately i’ve been facing the Euston very often and i didn’t have a chance to compete since it apparently has huge burst damage unlike the carb-9.

give it time before whine!

I don’t understand why people don’t use Euston more. On paper, it has all around better stats:

  • 1.2 spread vs 2.3, even better with sights: 0.8 vs 2.0
  • slightly better stability
  • better range
  • faster reload
  • same rate of fire, yet 2 more damage

With extra range to burn, you can afford to take muzzle brake and won’t find yourself at a disadvantage. And then front grip…

I bet they have data on the backend that tracks which weapons are getting the most kills. Its interesting what weapons are perceived to be getting most of the kills, and what actually is happening. You may indeed be right. There’s a possibility that most people play as a medium and don’t use Carb-9 as a primary.

Maybe same RoF on paper, but in reality, you have to burst fire with the Euston or all your shots will go wide, while with the Carb you can just go full auto because it has a really small maximum spread.

Is there any place I can go to for maximum weapon spread ? Or do I have to check each weapon ingame, manually ? No stats I’ve seen on a website included maximum spread.

You seem to have the same reason why I got bored in Brink as well, the shooting with a hold-down-the-trigger-and-win SMG is just plain boring. Beating everyone from AR guys to heavies with a SMG that is supposed to be “light” weapon makes little to no sense even in a videogame.

make the carb underpowered actually

(Smokeskin) #10

I don’t think there’s anything inherently boring about the Carb, it is just overpowered, so it is all that is worth using. Any weapon would get boring if you had to stick with it all the time.

I’ve actually used the CARB-9 and not prefered it over my Bulpdaun. I knew one guy who was really good with it, but we were evenly matched…

The Carb’s main advantage over the Euston is it’s stability at full rock-n-roll, hence the Carb is the gun of choice for the galloping-light brigade. Euston has good damage and a savage ROF, but muzzle-climbs off target like a bastard at ‘full chat’.
