I cant view my md3's in gtkRadiant...help

(tsakali) #1

when I extract with 3Dmax6 as md3, and the use misc_model to load it , I only get this yellow target looking brush, but the model is nowhere to be seen.

when I run the map I can actualy see it in game.
How can I fix this?

We need more information…and a picture would help.

When you say “extract”, do you mean “export” ?

(tsakali) #3

yes I mean export, but the problem doesn’t just happen with my own md3’s but even with the models already included with ET.

here is an example that was supposed to load a tank

(EB) #4

have you ever mapped before ?

never mind found the fix, I had to edit the engine path in the et.game file of gtkradiant into the old school 8 character naming convention, apparently radiant does not like long pathnames

That is exactly what the link was about.

heh yup that’s the link I found seconds before you posted funny how I didn’t notice your previous post

I have another question, is it a good idea to make big parts of my map out of md3’s and just clip them ? or is that not a ghood idea? like would it be good to make rooms and buildings from md3? is there a reason why either way? I want to make a zeppelin map but the tools in radiant don’t give me the freedom I need to create something with precision and ease

also how can I keep a md3 in radiant, cause once I deselect my md3 it dissapears from view, is there a way to keep it there just like a brush?
