I can't get constructable mg42 to work I fallowed tut

why my mg42 after being constructed does not fire,
this is the question.

I’v made sure everything fit with sock’s tutorial but it don’t shoot,
may be It’s the fact that the gun is on a small flat board just big enought to hold it? (slighty bigger that gun box in radiant)
waht could be the problem, i know scripting is correct and all entity keys are in order.
my map is about be relasesed this comming week-end how and where should i post it?
i hope everyone likes it, i would put screens up but i don’t know how to load them up here. help me post my map soon!!!

I don’t know how to fix the gun, but www.pcgamemods.com would be a good place to release it. As for image hosting, go to www.villagephotos.com, and make an account. You can upload up to 25 pictures there and then use the “Img” button to post them on here. I’m not sure what is wrong with your MG, but I can tell you that your gun could be floating in the air and it would still work, what you have it mounted on shouldn’t matter. I realize it is a silly mistake, but perhaps you used a prefab or a model of the gun instead of a misc_mg42, or whatever then entity is… you might want to check that…

i’ll check into that but i also think it might be that i’v moved the gun since first targetning it and shuch, alos sock amd out to sound like it had to point 90degreees don’t know but that gun ad low fps are my only problems holding me back from putting it on the web!!! tis map rivaled beach mp when i beta texted it in some secret showings.

If you can’t do something this easy, even after following a tutorial, maybe you should wake up and realize that mapping isn’t for you.

I don’t remember writing a tutorial on MG42 constructions, maybe offered some advice in a thread here but that is all. I would recommend you first try the MG42 entity outside of an ET construction to see if it will work correctly. Once it you have the MG42 working in game, simply give it a targetname key and then switch its state via the script using the “setstate” script command.

I would seriously recommend you beta test your map first before releasing it and take your time with creating your map. People will appreciate your map more if it is tested and fully working.

Thanks sock, it was my trigger brush that activated the mortor system.
Apparently you can’t put a MG42 inside a trigger brush.
well anyway I got it working :clap:

Now all I need to do is se if I can raise my fps, my map is a big outdoor island and gets low fps from just about anywhere in the map, Im currently experimenting with hint brushing to see if I can get more fps.

Oh well I’m not gonna let that hold this map back people with 2ghz or better will get no problem. I’ll be releasing the first beta this weekend!
