i can walk trough my models

(skippah) #1

i’m making a map and i placed some barrels and dragonthoot

but when i test it i walk right trough them. i can see them but i walk trought them

i don’t know how to fix it

and yes i used the search function

The solution is in fact quite simple.

Just drag a brush around it and texture it with the “clip” texture, which can be found in the “common” category.
If you want more control of the parts you can “run into”, make several brushes.

EDIT: I meant the “clip” texture, not “noclip”…

lol it was to obvious to notice

ty for ur time

Note that the ‘clip’ texture will allow bullets to pass through.
To stop bullets from going through you will need the ‘clipweap’ texture. (This also automatically clips players.)

Or alternatively, if your models are not too complicated, you can use the ‘autoclip’ spawnflag which will have the same effect. (but can be more precise if needed.)

noclip is the command in console you use to be able to walk through anything I just looking in the common folder, there no shader called ‘noclip’

Basically for models your best bet would be the ‘clipweap’ shader but there are also a few more like clipweap_wood/metal and clipmissile, the first two would make a sound that sounds like you just hit that material the clip missile will allow bullets though but not explosives (nades panzers).

Oops, I, and kamikazee probably aswell, meant “clip” texture, not “noclip” :stuck_out_tongue:

(skippah) #7

but there are 2 clipweaps

there’s a clipweap_metal and a clipweapmetal
and a clipweap_wood and a clipweapwood
:? :? :? :? :?

They do what their name says.

Shoot a clipweapon_metal brush and you will hear a nice metallic “dang” sound, whereas shooting a clipweapon_wood brush would just yield a dry “duk” sound.

EDIT: Hmmm, sure you got two of each? It could be the result of someone packaging his own “common” texturepack.

I’ have just made a test map using all 4 of them then trying it out with clean install, everything apart from ‘clipweapwood’ works this one shows as missing texture in the clean install the other three do and sound like what they are meant to.
