I can no longer change mercs after death, gets stuck on the F3 merc..?

I have recently been having an issue where after death I cannot change character, the only option is F3 and the other mercs have no options assigned, it just says none in brackets. Been two weeks like this. Any ideas?

Updates tend to sometimes break keybinds. Have you checked that your “Select merc 1/2” keys are still placed to F1 and F2 from control options?

You say after death…are you still able to pick these mercs when first spawning in the server?

They are, but updates can sometimes wipe even those out. Has happened to me a month ago or so, and been reported multitude of times in past.

can we put a back up of our own keybind somewhere? i really hate doing all the keybind again because my keyboard has some keys dead
(my keyboard is pretty old.)

@sweetColumn Afaik you can backup your ShooterInput config file to some other location where there game files are, and just copy+paste that in everytime theres an update for good “just in case measure”, as it takes literally just few seconds.

You can find your configs from location C: -> Users -> “Your username here” -> Documents -> My Games -> UnrealEngine3 -> Shootergame -> Config

Engine and such configs are supposed to be made read-only before launching the game, but I am not entirely sure on this one as it is not read-only to begin with, maybe someone else should confirm this. @LifeupOmega I recall you having backups of your input file?

It’s typically required to set read only to any files you modify, so in my case I set Engine and UI to that.

I believe these reports started coming in when they changed the vote Yes/No from F1/F2 to Page Up/Down. Though for some reason a small amount of people continue to mention it being a problem with future patches after that point. Don’t know the reason why it keeps creeping up but its definitely fixable by rebinding them.

Thanks all, it was keybinds, it must have been an update that reset the bind. Still the defaults were removed…

Legend says when Naxxus the all mighty and thus revived gets peckish, not even the defaultest of the binds are safe.

For what it’s worth I haven’t had this myself but I’ve seen a heap of people complaining in pub about this. Not that it’s stuck on the F3 merc but just that they can’t change their merc, even though they have reset their controls.
