Lol, I havent been able to participate in my own thread.
Anyways, I saw that a couple of you argued that this game should implement in game switching because not having that is taking away from the ability customization. I disagree. I feel that the strategy of picking your skill lies in not being able to choose all skills. so by having such a small number of skills you really need to think which skills you really want to have prior to going battle. Besides, all the objective required skills are given by default.
i agree you shouldn’t be able to max out all skills. that’s why i say they should decrease the number of skill points. making a character that is good across all classes seems like the best way to make an average character. and i suppose you could make one that is great for medic and good for soldier and ok for engi and operative, but then when you your team needs a engi or operative you aren’t going to want to swtich. i like playing different roles to their fullest, but they current loadout system punishes you for that. i still like choosing between different skills, but not making a bland character that is good for all classes.
aside from skills though, this current system makes it incredibly hard to experiment with weapon loadouts. especially since the ingame weapon stats are most likely inaccurate and stats are bound to change for balance purposes.
overall, this game punishes those who really want to experiment. the cost of one level for redoing skills also hinders experimentation. it would require a big difference to change the loadout system, but i think it may be necessary.
