I am completely against switching characters in-game!

Tokamak, what a marvelously relevant post you make, I suppose many of the 5000 posts you have made could have never been made and nothing of relevance lost.

On a more serious note, I’m a little disappointed that I made such a effort to submit a opinion respectfully and logically while the best you have is a retort about the length of my post, honestly. Of all the posters in this thread, I hoped you’d generate some useful dialogue.

Let me re-iterate that the OP’s argument is rather moot since anyone can already switch characters mid-game, they just need to leave the server and come back. They’ll net the same XP, and could just as easily make 4 characters with all perks for that 1 class, leaving and rejoining each time they wish to switch. Hell, they might even be able to do it with a script to cut down on chances of your slot being taken when you reconnect to the server.

There’s nothing respectful about making people wade through filler. Eloquence is an art of course, but at least you could try.

Only be able to switch during match end?

servers filling up and ease of use is my argument against leaving the server and rejoining. the current system just doesn’t make sense and punishes those who want to experiment with different loadouts. it seems like a lousy way to make players create other characters and trick them into investing more time into the game. i want to invest time into the game because it is fun, not because i need to level up another character or leave a server and come back to make one change on my smg.

Lol, I havent been able to participate in my own thread.

Anyways, I saw that a couple of you argued that this game should implement in game switching because not having that is taking away from the ability customization. I disagree. I feel that the strategy of picking your skill lies in not being able to choose all skills. so by having such a small number of skills you really need to think which skills you really want to have prior to going battle. Besides, all the objective required skills are given by default.

i agree you shouldn’t be able to max out all skills. that’s why i say they should decrease the number of skill points. making a character that is good across all classes seems like the best way to make an average character. and i suppose you could make one that is great for medic and good for soldier and ok for engi and operative, but then when you your team needs a engi or operative you aren’t going to want to swtich. i like playing different roles to their fullest, but they current loadout system punishes you for that. i still like choosing between different skills, but not making a bland character that is good for all classes.

aside from skills though, this current system makes it incredibly hard to experiment with weapon loadouts. especially since the ingame weapon stats are most likely inaccurate and stats are bound to change for balance purposes.

overall, this game punishes those who really want to experiment. the cost of one level for redoing skills also hinders experimentation. it would require a big difference to change the loadout system, but i think it may be necessary.
