How to use endgame chat?

Can anybody tell me what settings have to be used for endgame chat? A server variable i suppose?

I know its there and Ive seen it twice since the reintroducing patch, but I wonder why I see it so rarly, close to never.

most servers have it disabled. its really annoying. they should force it on and let people turn it off!

and as a serverowner i wasnt aware that we should enable it

so whats the command?

Well in most server I think it is active, if we are talking about the possibility to talk during the end cut-scene.

Never saw a way to chat in between games, from the score/award/vote page. I’m a bit confused on what end-of-game chat means exactly… for me it was only the cut-scene chat, which allows for some “GG” and other basic fast comment. It’s better than nothing, although I would love to have a chat tab in the stats page, for example to discuss about ongoing map voting etc.

As a side note, I think future maps cutscenes should be made so that it can show more of the players of each side. Because I think it makes people happy to see their character in these movies. Reinforces the immersion in the game.

Endgame chat means a fully grown chat window during the end of map where awards or mapvotes are shown. It is in the bottom of the window. The greyed out buttons “global”, “team” and “fireteam” should let you select the recipient.

So whats the servercommand?

I have noticed that you have to manually select Global if you want to see the end game chat window but if your buttons are greyed out I assume its disabled.

All the servers i´ve played since the previous big patch have it off.

Splash damage sayd they fixed that in the previous patch but still all the servers have it off, so I supose the server owners have to update some stuff in the config in order to enable it, but it shoud be standard enabled plus the voip or at least the team voip with new sound settings, when I hear someone in brink is like reallly low sound for some reason.

I think the problem is not very many server owners know how to enable it. Would be cool if SD or someone that knows could create a very quick post on how to enable it and check that it’s working.

Having it disabled by default on servers, is silly. And disappointing. And silly. I don’t think an FPS has lacked in communications quite so much, since the original version of QuakeWorld.

I only see si_disableglobalchat which I have enabled (0). If there is a chat window during the stats review, I’ve never seen it. I’ve only been able to chat while the end game movie is playing.

cant you just turn it back on? such a stupid decision to remove it. ive only seen 1 bit of abuse on chat so far in 100+hours.

comms in games seems to be worse than it was 10 years ago

whats the cvar to enable? lets have that now and you can always make it enbled from start in next update

We’ve found this to occur on the PC only via a specific sequence of steps.

For the time being, a workaround is to set si_playMode to “2” in the console while on that screen, or once in a multiplayer match.
