Hi,
I’m new so I can’t tell you much.
But you’ll need the Enemy Territory sdk, basic programming skills, time :banghead: . But it depends what you want to do, so you may need skinner or mapper…
and if you want some tutos, just red the threat in this topic 
I may forgot some things or maybe I’m wrong.
Mod just means Modification.
In my opinion that starts with custom maps.
But could also mean changing sounds, skins, models (weapons and players) and the gameplay at all.
If you change alltogether it’s called a total conversion.
I’ve seen the short cut TC for this.
I think there aren’t many tutorials that cover the whole “mod-making” them.
But ou will find tutorials for each of the mentioned themes.
A example theres a sticky thread in the splashdamage Level Design for Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Forum with a lot of links to tutorials which cover the theme “mapping”:

Very true. I’m interested in creating a mod eventually, but I’m playing it safe by creating maps first. Learning to properly balance a map in terms of gameplay will definitely help you out when you eventually start creating new classes and weapons for your mod.
