Doing it for home is just not worth it. Are you trying to do it lan or online? If it is online than it will not be worth telling. Im sorry.

You also have to forward some ports, 27960 at least.
If you want to just show someone some things or play against some friends you can do it like this. Else I suggest you rent a ET game server for 12 euro or so per month. It’s not a fortune :’)

Or if you want to just play with friends in your town and have decent computer. You can download the program hamachi and set up online LAN servers to play on. Similar to the way people played Wolfenstein when it was leaked :wink:

How can it not be worth telling? I always ran some private tests of maps(which are now lost) on a home hosted server. I have 1mbit upload and my friends only had like 60-80 ping. It was very playable in fact(had 4 players max).

If its just against a friend just do Create Game.
Anyone nearby will be able to play, such as in a college.

Incase you need help forwarding your router ports this is the best site possible for it.

depending on your upline it shouldn’t be too hard to do the math… you need about 100 kb/s per player if you run it at 13000 instead of 25000…

i’ve done it and it works just swell :smiley:
