How to play Fragger?

(gg2ez) #1

I’ve recently bought Fragger and want to know how is he played that makes him any better than Nader. Can anyone give me some playstyle strategies for Fragger? Kinda lost here.

(LANshark) #2

you know his frags? use them. You know his MG? use it more than frags. Kill people.

That’s all i know, i don’t play fragger, i play nader.

NADER MAINS UNITE!

Press 4 to select the grenades and hold mouse1 to cook them rather than using Q. And that’s basically it. I recommend the M62 card since it has Explodydendron and Unshakeable, if you prefer the K-121 than get the K51 card. He’s a pretty straightforward character for the most part. Works better if you have a pocket medic like a Sawbonez.

Play slowly and deliberately, focusing more on aiming head height and facing the right direction that the enemy is coming from. Because of the new grenade count and cooking still being a thing, use your grenades once per wave and use it when you know someone is there instead of assuming that someone might be there. Also, in case you didnt know, for a medium range nade watch his left hand, his fingers indicate when to throw. Two fingers out means throw and you will detonate on impact. From that point on you can account for it yourself.

Oh well, I hope you enjoy your newly found Meta-Trendiness.

Fragger used to be an interesting corner check merc.

Now his grenades have been repurposed to only being thrown when you are 100% certain someone is there.

Just dont frag yourself.

I would’ve never guessed it. Thanks buddy.

@gg2ez
Keep yourself at either medium range, if you ahve a good medic go frontlines.
Shoot everyone and harass the marksmans so your temates can take em out,
Use your frags to clean rooms, corner blast enemies, damage crowds. Rember to cook em nice and toasty for at least 1 second before throwing.

Practice the nade cooking, a well timed frag can take out most mercs (excluding Rhino).
dont be cooky wiht your hp and avoid CQC fragger is clumsy due to his Slow speed.

some more agresive tips (from my expierence)
If you find yourself agaisnt a speedy class, try cookign a nade for 2 seconds and throwing it so it bascily explodes in their face, like a shotgun, but more explosive, thsi does leave you open t get shoot so be carefull, you could also just hold it and scream “ALLAHU ACk-FRAGGER” as you go boom…

If oyu find someone at CQC tha tiant a speedy class (not Satan AKA as Proxy/ Aura / Sparks) you shoudl fire a roudn from your primary and then pull out your psitol and spray a bit, doesnt sound smart but nobody expects it, and the Heavy pistols headshot is brutal

Well a few tips of the top of my head

  1. Using either the K 121 or M4, fire in bursts, and of course aim for the head

  2. Pay attention to spawn waves, 20 seconds each, and use that to kinda predict where the enemies will go and throw your nades there. It takes a while but you’ll rack up kills super quick, it almost feels like you’re walling.

  3. Don’t forget, if you are cooking a nade but don’t wanna throw it, change weapons, you’ll only get a very short cooldown.

When I first started playing Fragger I simply watched a couple of known good player’s and applied what they did then built up from there.

(gg2ez) #12

Which good players are these? They must be absolute Gods if you learnt from them.

(Verticules) #13

If you don’t like roses, machine guns, or grenades, he’s not worth playing.

(gg2ez) #14

Yes to all. (Roses better be hypoallergenic).

You can learn from anybody really as long as they know what they are doing. I just saw how some guys who had played DB for a while moved, how they aimed and routes they took and started doing stuff like that myself and the game became a lot more transparent at a quicker pace.

You can take inspiration from anywhere really. A few months back I realized after watching a streamer that I wasn’t flanking nearly as much as I should/could and I was trying to fight straight up way too often. He was a rather mediocre player but his flanking choices and routes were effective and fun. I applied this and became a better and way less predictable player.

It’s incredibly common to do this in fighting games. Which is another genre I love even if the online in most of the ones I like is total crap. But that’s what locals are for

Well @Amerika is good. I don’t know just how good, I only know his skills are miles above mine. I’m gonna drop a link to his YT channel, there’s a few great Fragger pub videos from about a month ago. I’ve learned much about how to use the K-121 from them.

I’ve seen @Amerika play. It’s crazy - 5 Aces in a single match. Wow.

If you ever have the chance to chill on a map by yourself, take it. Take fragger and master the cook times.

Toss.

When you can sit in underground on the first objective, crouch, and toss the nade directly up through the roof to explode in mid air, you’re doing it right. Its tricky to get it juuuuusst right, but can net some good kills.

When you can consistently have a grenade explode right in an Aura’s face, killing both her and the station WITHOUT it touching either of them or the ground, you’re doing it right.

When you consistently do that from across the map with a perfect 1 or 2 second cook, you’ve likely mastered it. Long-bomb nades can make a huge difference.

While Fragger isn’t really meant for area denying, he can kind of fill that role in a pinch. If a clutch character (read: an engineer) is downed and you see the medic rushing in, toss a nade on the body. Don’t cook it, the idea here is zone them off. Yes, its better to just kill them, but if you think you’re going to go down regardless, you’ll at least take the engiee with you. Really this applies when we’re talking fractions of a second and you know almost for certain that you wont have enough time to finish them. Start viewing those nades as tool to be used, not just…grenades.

DO NOT rush in. You have rifle for a reason. While fragger excels at combat, he isn’t a mindless character. You have GOT to pick your battles at medium range. And don’t be afraid to use your handgun to get those pop headshots or pick off low HP targets.
