Try opening them with notepad.

The md3-files can be opened by moddeling software.

Can you give me a link to the modeling software. Also can it open the other files. Thanks!

I know only two free/low cost modelling programs:
gmax (free but you have to have an im- and export plugin for the md3/mds)
and
Milkshape (shareware something around 25,-€ or $)

I haven’t got adresses for the gmax plugins.
But I think you can find them with google.

char- and skin-files are textfiles.

one more thing is there anyway to get the helmet skins for each class without the signs(like eng has the tools painted on the helmet) I made some juts by cloaning textures but i want to get the original so i can put real life icons on them to go with my mod.

there has been a post in this forum:
ET Skin - helmet

Just came to my mind.
Theres an additional install for gmax called “tempest”.
Originally it’s some addition for Q3A.
But with this addition it’s possible to open and edit the md3 in gmax.
