How to make 'arch caps'

(Flippy) #1

Really no idea how they’re called lol… so here’s a pic from near the bridge in Goldrush
(Obviously it’s about the selected patches…):

I use these patches from time to time, but i always ‘steal’ them from the goldrush map or one of my older maps where i used them…
I have never made them myself… and im now getting tired of stealing them all the time :stuck_out_tongue:

So yeah… how do you make these patches?

Select your bevel patch. Go to Patch (or the Curve menu) -> Cap selection. Select the type of cap you want. (Here it is “Inverted Bevel”)

Click Ok, and you should now have a group consisting of you patch + the two caps on both sides.

I tried that already but it didnt work…

It just creates two TINY strips (patches i guess) which im unable to select at the tips of the patch… <_<

How do you create the bevel?

I have a feeling he uses the clipper tool…

Stating from the other thread Patches ****ing up, I’d say you are creating them from a flat patch.

The better/easier way to do this is by dragging a brush, selecting it and going to Patch (or Curve) -> Bevel.

That way, the “Cap selection” command should work too.

I was indeed making the patches from a straight Simple Patch Mesh and bending them from that…
Didn’t know there was a faster way  And now it works
Thanks
