How to get on Steam's top 10 in 5 easy steps

Well, I want customization and moar content (the original skin system comes to mind), but essentially turning DB into a TF2 clone? That would kill any shred of originality to any new players looking in on the surface, damage the goodwill of long-time players like me that hope for good decisions on SD’s part (and a stupid beta trinket wouldn’t fix that), and ultimately cause said long-time players to leave the game forever (killing the game in the process).

We all want change, but your suggestions will only make the state of DB worse.
Changing how cosmetics and loadout works doesnt affect the core gameplay. So theres no way it can become a TF2 clone. DB will still play like DB. It would just add another layer progression and customization.
If by progression you mean silly hats, then sure.

I wouldn’t call that progression though.
Amassing a bunch of cosmetic items (hats, alternate gun models, unique weapons skins, name tags) to customize your fav merc would be considered progression, cosmetic progression at least.
what you have to take into account aswell is that NOT everyone has a bank account to splash out on items like hats etc, i’d rather have the choice of either A) craft a loadout and take a chance on the spin of doom or B) be able to buy my loadout i want but at a CASH price (but a reasonable price)

yaaaaaawn why does every two bit guy that either has to much time or not enough skill have to whine on the forums about this shit… most of use have been playing since day ! and on the forums sine or before then. look this game has what you would call “a skill ceiling” learn you skill level and try this is not COD or TF2 you help your team not one man rambo or use your team to win. every team member is needed to win a match that is why you loss because you have a weak link.
These suggestions sound a bit unrealistic,no company in the entire world would give refunds for no reason.

Adding more cosmetics wouldn’t do anything, except making the devs look lazy and uninspired, and picking Valve’s business model, where the community does their work instead of them, and gets all the money(like 70 to 80% of the revenue),while selling crates and keys seperately,is the worst example someone could give.
Does that look healthy to anyone?
well since this game runs though steam… steam is already getting a cut of those dlc packs and maybe a lot more.

I understand where he’s coming from and I like the idea, just not the application of said idea. Once I unlock all the mercs it is very likely I will stop playing DB as after that there is no end game. There’s nothing further for me to really shoot for or want. With the old trade in system I would have spend more time trading up cards for progression, but now it’s completely gone and all I get for grinding is a stupid number that counts up until I have enough for 1 loudout card. DB needs more progression and content. As much as I love DB, I don’t see myself still wanting to play after a week of having everything unlocked.

@Maviard The game will not die just because you say it. And as you see, 17 people don’t agree with you aswell.
We get these threads every once in a while. Someone new comes here, predicts Doomsday and people disagrere with him. Yet I’m here for over a year and the game still alive.

People just cant stand playing a skillbased game
truestory
How come CS:GO is insanely popular then?
CS:GO cut down the skills-level compared to cs 1.6 imo.

Look at evolve stage 2, went from nothing to 1million new players in a week, I’m not agreeing with what op said but something needs to be done.

Just look at the forums, its full of doubt. A lot of veterans are leaving and steam stats are plummeting.

Well. Evolve was a paid game. Now it’s F2P with a shitty shop system. Sure the numbers are great now, since everyone is trying the new game they didn’t want or couldn’t afford. But I kinda doubt the playerbase will stay in 6-digits in some months.

(Supersneaky) #28

@Jostabeere yes that’s true but how many of those players will stay? Im one of them really enjoying the game.

If db did something to get a huge intake it’ll keep a large chuck as regular players even if the initial hit gets halved.

Only 12K. I honestly expected some really high numbers based on your post.

Oh, okay.

(Mister__Wiggles) #32

Also 1 million unique players over the first week of the stage 2 beta. A game with no microtransactions (as of yet) and even less content than db has so I’ll side with @Jostabeere on this, those numbers won’t last. Just wander into the community and read what people think, you’ll the general opinion is that there isn’t enough content and the speed of production is slow. Db just released new content and people still think it’s not enough. Needy player are or are they right to want more? In evolves case it’s needy, with there being no choice to spend real money the devs don’t feel obliged to add new maps and stuff at an increased rate, in turn gives them time to big fix and to get things perfect. Db however launched with a fully functioning store, which has never gone wrong from what I remember while content (without considering mercs) has been underwhelming at best. What have we got? A new gamemodes that from what I’ve read people don’t really enjoy, a few maps that some people can’t run really well (Yes they have bad pc’s, their fault but not all are bad) and some other just refuse to play because there is a specific gamemode attached to it. While all this is happening every update brings new bugs and more options to spend real money, dirty bombs business model has always been in question since release and I don’t think it ever improved, just like the content creation has been in general pretty poor. I love db for the core game mechanics but that doesn’t make up for all the issues.

What this game need is marketing, better support and more content.

2 years of beta for what? A couple maps, some subpar “counterstrike mode” and a very broken/unbalanced ranked?

Being steam exclusive is also a bad thing.
