How to force server to download pk3

HI i need to focre my server to download from my web site>>
Now i downloaded maps an stuff but skins will not download
How can i make the server download my skins an sounds…

are u running a unpure server

if you are they will need to dowanload maps but wont need the skins etc

it is set to pure…i am on 2.55 i want to have players downlad the new skins an sounds

they will :S , be sure all is in pk3 not extracted…

They will only be downloaded if there is a file in the .pk3 that is refrenced by the server. Putting a campaign in there would do the trick :moo:

I thought that’s only needed if it’s a unpure server (if a file has a campaign inside the client is forced to download it), on pure servers clients should download all the pk3’s on the server automaticly.
I might be wrong about the last point but I’m pretty sure, I’ve seen sound/skinpacks without campaign files inside getting downloaded.

As I said, it needs to be referenced by the server. Having a campaign in it not the only way this can happen. There also seems to be some differences with between things that are in etmain vs. a different fs_game.

It is trivial to show that no every .pk3 known to the server is forced to be downloaded. Most maps .pk3s you only get when that map comes up in the rotation, not when you join the server.

No. Unless you are running etpro with b_campaignfile, the et server loads every .campaign file in every available .pk3. This causes the server to think each of those .pk3 files in use, and forces the clients to dl them.

If you want that a Skin- or Soundpack will be downloaded to the client, put it into the ETpro-folder.
If your server runs with ETpro and the pack contains scripts it will be downloaded - a campaign-file is not necessarily.
But the best solution is only to use packs without scripts in the etmain-folder, so it’s an option for the people on the server. Keep in mind that not everybody want’s to see/hear some changes (and you hold the traffic low).
