how to find the skins?

Where can I find the skins for modding?

The uniforms I mean,

Check out: models/players/temperate

They are constructed from .skin files. Some mods even change the body models, but i have no clue how they do it, and even less of a clue how they create those nice skins to fit the models.

Still searching for someone who walks me through how to create such awesome skins, like there are some on the download pages.

But yeah, they are in this folder, spread across multiple files.

Hi and Merry Christmas!

Before the Christmas tree is placed, and the ham is fried and I getting new socks, I want to know if there are any tutorials for modding wolf et?

hey oveove, there is very few tutorials about modding… I had some myself earlier before my website got hacked and went down some years ago…
but I’ll think about making some new ones… what kind of mod is on your mind? is it all the way with code or just skins?

Hello thunder!

My dream:

A finish Sovietic winter war mod (1940), the axis will be replaced with Swedish help-soldiers (around 4000 men was helping in Finland during the winter war), for making this mod fun I want to make skies for the Swedish troops that works as a speed booster like the jumping in silEnT.

So I want a new wapon called skies that only boost your speed and white uniforms and new Swedish wapons and grades (gradbeteckningar).

Will take a look at it  I think I got a plan on how to make your own skins properly. But you will still need some artistic skills.

I’ve not started yet…

I want to finish my map Norwegian Battery first, but there is something wrong with the whole script, there is no errors, but some commands seems to disappear…

#8

Wahhhaaaa! I find them!!!
And my map also seems to work now! Wahooo!
Hm, is there anyone that wants to help me with the textures?

@acQu the playermodel can probably be changed in the character file…

(acQu) #9

I can change it in the source code :stuck_out_tongue: but the difficult part is making them, because of missing model tools. That was what i meant with “how to change them” Create these from scratch (with animations) and i award you the … erm … the “golden herp derp skin” in my future mod (will hardcode it to your guid :P)

(ailmanki) #10

well making models and animations … ikanato figured out how and documented that… but its highly difficult.
Ischbinz already made new models, but I don’t think he made new animations…

I thought you want skins? :stuck_out_tongue:

Me? Erm … did i say models? :o Nope. What? I am confused. I am just interested in both things

(primarily in skins though, and creation, imagine i would be able to look over shoulder of ET vanilla skin creatiors, i just want to see how they work, and if they really first draw up the skin in 2D programs, i guess they do … incredible and awesome stuff …).

EDIT and yes, i know the basic process, i just can’t imagine how people just open, for example, Gimp, and start drawing the skin (even if they have UV-maps etc, and know how the skin is mapped to model). Well, anyway, it is not that urgent to know, i know i can’t create one myself anyway except just drawing over standard skins in Gimp …

Well for skins, I would recommend to use C tools to convert the models to a md3. Then use your favorite 3d program to paint the skins. I think newest adobe photoshop you can load up md3 + textures… not sure. To busy already to try this… lol, and I recon it depends what software you have - or want to use.
Curious myself how some of those skins have been done… if they just spent hours adjusting them. Or if there is some smarter way.

there’s a lot of ways to do this… here is one of them if you want it from scratch: http://www.thewolfteam.org/download.php?view.34

(acQu) #14

Thanks, yeah i had someone already telll this to me, but i still admire the skill to just draw the skins i guess. There are some really good custom skins out there … which makes me wonder how they did it so well.

Exactly my point. I just want to know how they do it. Some silent heroes there, of ET i guess

(Mateos) #15

Some 3D software allows to “paint” the model directly and exports the skin automatically, maybe there’s something similar for MD3, or 3D software with the right plugins?

(Ododo) #16

I’m not familiar with 3D creation at all, but it seems that blender can export md3 using this plugin
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.4/Py/Scripts/Export/Md3-export-0.2

(Mateos) #17

This one is old, I shared a more recent one in a pinned topic, but it starts to be outdated itself ^^’ It has more possibilities than the Katbits one, also supports a more recent Blender build.

Waw waw waw, hello there!

Can someone help me?

I want skies, can someone help me?

Or can someone make a model?
I don’t know anything about modding, I just only know how to use radiant, photoshop and audiocity(or what it is called).

PS. is there anyone that played a silEnT night? hahaha lol
