How To Deafeat The Phantom - Tips

(Reddeadcap) #21

When sitting still he’s basically invisible, when on the move he’s a shadowy grey silhouette that is really hard to miss.

Edit: Shooting him glitches his camo, making him even more visible.

(avidCow) #22

I keep seeing people say he “doesn’t contribute to objectives”. What nonsense. A lot of time objectives are completed because the other team has been wiped. You see this in comp as well. This game isn’t that deep.

(scrub_lord) #23

If a Phantom charges you, just spray at his head. Easy headshots and you’ll drop him so fast that his shield won’t even make a difference.

(Grave_Knight) #24

His incorporeal thing makes him immune to damage but he can’t attack while it’s up and he’s still visible. None of the announced characters have stealth afaik.[/quote]
So basically it’s a buffed up version of Phantom’s armor aspect sans the cloak. OH! Right, doesn’t the sniper girl have an optic camo?

(Sussepus) #25

Well if you play Sparks the only way to defeat Phantom is to turn around and run for your life and hope someone with more than a MP starts shooting on whatever is coming behind you
And dont run in a straight line or else smg in your back.

I was actually serious before, when I mentioned Rhino. It takes Phantom two heavy strikes to bring down Rhino, and it takes Rhino .3 seconds to turn Phantom into red paste. It takes a bit longer if you decide to teabag him afterward, which I heartily recommend.

(Jojack) #27

Lol. In the little rooms that Rhino usually hides, I have time to kill Rhino’s two pocket auras, smoke a cigarette and dice Rhino up into little Rhino cubes and put them on a serving platter before he can spot me and start his mini gun. Mostly thanks to the bug that gives lunge a cleave effect. Lunge, spin, lunge gets the job done.

(MTLMortis) #28

That is exactly why I don’t worry about Phantom. His current state of OMFGOP is due to a bug that will be fixed. Then attacking groups of people (or me solo) will be suicide.

Woah, slow down, cowboy. I think I just wet myself a little.

Your off-the-charts badassery aside, the numbers really don’t lie. Outside the world of absurd hypotheticals, Rhino has a distinct advantage over Phantom - more so than most of the mercs currently in the game.

You could of course debate the overall usefulness of Rhino on a lot of maps, but I find there are places where he can function well on most of them. And if Phantom is really as big an issue as people make him out to be, it definitely makes sense to bring Rhino.

I bet you’re fun at parties.

All kidding (and my off-the-charts bad assery) aside, in a perfect scenerio where for some reason Phantom runs head on into a spinning mini gun you’re right. In the practical game world, Phantom dominates Rhino just like he dominates everyone else when used correctly.

That’s true only against bad or inexperienced players. Against good players, it’s his Kek that does the damage and he’s still OMFGOP (not really OP, just game changing in a bad way).

(MTLMortis) #32

yeah…no.

Hollunds 880 DMG Head/Body: 176/88

KEK-10 DMG Head/Body: 22/11

You aren’t serious are you? The effective range of the Hollunds is about the end of the barrel. The KEK can snipe across the map losing no accuracy.

I’m not even sure what point you are trying to make.

I am the life, and the death of the party.

Also, who doesn’t keep the minigun spinning at all times? I’m pretty sure I’m the only person who plays Rhino, so …

But…you can’t shoot 360 degrees around you simultaneously. Plus, pretty sure you will be targeting the visible enemies first, rather than the mostly invisible ones, simply out of human nature.

Maybe you are better than the Rhinos I’ve run into on Phantom. But so far, they haven’t made me break a sweat. Really, I haven’t had to break a sweat on Rhino while playing any merc. Save for a handful of good ones that caused me fits. Those are as rare as albinos.

Tell that to all the Phantoms who’s cloaks I destroy and then shotgun in the face. I move faster, I’ve got a bigger gun and explosives. Phantoms ain’t all that…

Ok. Proxy is an appetizer for Phantom. She’s seriously tailor made for Phantom. I seriously think he was designed to be a direct counter to light mercs. Just because you have faced some really, really bad players on Phantom doesn’t mean he’s balanced.

Also, why in the world would you use the Hollunds on Proxy?

That’s all I got :frowning:

The sniper has a grappling hook, a poison mine, and gives the entire team the ability to see enemies through walls as her ultimate.

(XavienX) #40

Don’t forget to keep jumping, it’s hard for him to hit when your merc keeps jumping around while blasting shotgun pellets into his face.
